“After seeing these tacos on Gareth Eats, I was so happy to find them at the PB Farmers’ Market within walking distance of my rental. I had the original Baja and IMHO, the better one, the Sweet Ginger. The fish is so tender, almost buttery. The tacos are huge, but messy. Fork came in handy. I feel very lucky that two of the top five Baja tacos, right here in Pacific Beach!“

“I hired Bravo Catering to provide the main courses for my mom’s viewing, and I’m truly grateful for their service.

Rachel, our main point of contact, was wonderful—communicative, patient, and incredibly helpful. She thoughtfully recommended a selection of dishes to comfortably serve 100 guests.

Our order included:

Tray of penne Alfredo

Tray of penne Bolognese

Tray of penne pesto

Tray of chicken piccata

Tray of Caesar salad

2 trays of summer salad

3 trays of torta de mela

I also supplemented the catering with additional main dishes, five giant New York–style pizzas, and various desserts and side dishes generously provided by friends and family.

The food was a huge hit, and to our surprise, we were able to accommodate close to 225 guests, far more than we originally expected.

While I did need to provide the full tray racks and sternos for heating, Bravo truly went above and beyond. They arrived with a team of three, delivered everything seamlessly, and made sure the heating elements were fully ready before setting the trays in place. That extra care meant a lot to us during such an emotional time.

As an unexpected and deeply touching gesture, Bravo also surprised our family with a beautiful floral arrangement in honor of my mother’s passing.

“Chef Joann was an absolute pleasure to work with. When we first reached out to Chef Joann, she was a little bit out of our price range, but she was able to work with us and our budget in order to be the caterer for our wedding. We went and met Joann and did a food tasting with her and she was so hospitable and nice we knew we had found the caterer for us, not to mention the food was absolutely amazing. Luckily, Chef Joann had worked our venue before so that took all the worries and stress from trying to plan and connect her with our venue and coordinator. She was able to work with us, even through all the craziness of 2020 and we were able to figure out a way to make things work efficiently and safely without jeopardizing the layout or food. The bartenders she was able to bring went above and beyond and really helped to get the party started for our wedding. They were constantly bringing my wife and I drinks as we would be empty handed and socializing with our guests. It was really cool how well the entire crew took care of not only us but all of our guests. With me being the wayI am, I wanted to help Joann and her crew and she would joke with me to be quiet, have fun and get married. It really felt like a family member or close friend was there, had our back and was taking care of us. It was a really cool dynamic and took all the stress out of the day. The food Joann conjures up is not easily put into words. The appetizers she did for the cocktail hour as well as the cheese boards she created for each table were astounding. They were above and beyond anything we had expected. I had guests coming up to me all night commenting on how amazing the cocktail hour was along with the dinner. We are so happy we picked Joann to take control and be a part of our big day. “Our venue (the Junipero Serra Museum) provided us with a preferred list of vendors and when we had our first introductory call with the Abbey Catering, we knew they were the one. Robert took the time to chat with us and help us navigate the world of wedding planning in San Diego. Even prior to booking them, he spent time chatting with us and genuinely gave us ideas and support to go on our way with our vendor search and decision making. The Abbey was responsible for the catering and bar service at our event. A few months prior to our event, we were assigned our event captain Petr Trebin! HE IS FABULOUS! We loved his enthusiasm, attention to detail and style and focus on ensuring that everyone was well taken care of! Our event was seamless and everything went incredibly smooth. Upon entering our reception, the Martini Tree brought the wow factor! The hanging drinks caught the eye of our guests and warmly welcomed them into the reception. Many of our guests raved over the food and went out of their way to stress how delicious everything tasted. We chose a handful of delicious tray passed appetizers including the bacon wrapped figs, cream cheese wontons and soyrizo quesadillas and for dinner, chose the Abbey Signature Salad (mixed greens with walnuts) and Dual Entree plate with short rib, panko crusted chicken, truffle mashed potatoes and vegetables. Through out our event, Petr was a ninja- behind the scenes ensuring that everything was going as planned. He worked hand in hand with our coordinator and ensured we were well fed and that we had food readily at our disposal (SO IMPORTANT on your wedding day). He plated us all of our apps in a beautiful display. We actually felt full from how much we ate, which we hear is so rare from couples on their wedding day and were grateful for how attentive Petr was. In addition, our guests shared that the bartenders were rockstars! The drinks were pouring and it made for an epic dance party on the dance floor. The Abbey came highly recommended by our venue coordinator and we understand why. We had a great experience with them and are glad they were a part of our big day!“
