“Stefan at UCSD Catering was extremely helpful when my fiancée and I began planning our wedding at the Martin Johnson House on the Scripps Campus.Of the approved caterers, Stefan was one of few to immediately have a detailed conversation with me about the ins and outs of the venue, what potential options and setups could be, and how to compare pricing/offerings from different caterers.When we built a menu and proposal, communication was prompt and efficient. We were able to try different set up options, mix and match from the existing menu and modify plates to fit with what we were going for.Pricing on the menu was labeled per person, so it was super easy and transparent to see what the costs would be if we added or removed items. The proposal was also very clear on food cost, vs. staff cost, vs other fees.Compared to other vendors, UCSD's proposal looked like the best quality to price combo.Ultimately, we did not go with UCSD catering only because we were on a tight timeline and felt more comfortable going with an all-in-one catering solution.However, if you have the time (or a coordinator) I'd recommend the combo of UCSD Catering, Bella Beverage Catering, and Cedar and Pine Rentals.“

We had a taco bar and a tappa style buffet. Everyone raved about the food. The decor of the event was above anything we could have imagined. “Sean and his team are truly amazing! We hired them for our rehearsal dinner which took place at my grandparents house. They were able to pull up right in the driveway and guests meandered between the backyard and driveway to grab slices as they wished. I am personally vegetarian and my favorite was the pesto vegetarian pizza. It was so light and delicious! Everyone had great things to say about the honey jalepeno, and even the gluten free guests had great reviews. It felt like Sean was the host of the party, you can tell he truly loves his job and loves talking to people. They set up and cleaned up so quickly I hardly even knew where they arrived/left, it was like magic whisked them away. They made so much pizza most of us took some home afterwards. Highly reccomend!!!“

“If you don't know what wood fired pizza is you'd think it's burnt. It's not Dominos pizza it's artisan pizza cooked in high temperature oven with that perfect char. We met them at the Holiday Market at Petco Park and they were a well oiled machine. The entire staff looked super happy and their customer service was top notch! Can't wait to try again! “I subscribed to the Mama Africa monthly Sunday dinner from April, 2021 until the service was discontinued in April 2023, and enjoyed it immensely. It became a tradition to get together with friends once a month and enjoy the meal together. The food was always very interesting and satisfying, the sambusas were always a favorite (I would love to purchase the spicy peanut sauce in a bottle!!). I was sorry that the Sunday dinner program was discontinued, but I'd definitely use Mama Africa the next time I need an event catered.“

The two paellas we had were chicken and vegetables and seafood. Both were very good, and my guests were very happy with the display during the preparation and with the courtesy and friendliness of the chefs. I would recommend Paella Valenciana whole heartedly. “I hired Clambake Catering to do a lobster boil for my mom's 70th birthday party. I was beyond please. Will was wonderful to communicate with, and very accommodating with all of my questions and requests. We ended up with beautiful, live Maine lobster, baby potatoes, coleslaw, a lovely grilled veggie platter, pulled pork and rolls. Everybody raved about the food, and mentioned how kind Will and his assistant were. They showed up on time, served on time and cleaned up without a trace. “We cannot say enough wonderful things about Christine and her team. From start to finish, everything was absolutely seamless, and they played such a huge role in making our wedding day perfect.

The food was incredible and truly one of the highlights of the night. Guests were raving about it all evening, and so many went back for seconds. We are still receiving compliments! One thing that really stood out to us was how attentive and responsive the team was. During our tasting, we felt the red meat option was a little blander than our liking. They genuinely took our feedback to heart, made adjustments, and it was noticeably improved on our wedding day. That level of care meant so much to us.
