“I was looking for good pan dulce and found Panaderia La Colmena #1 right across the street from Home Depot.
Sometimes pan dulce will taste like old oil but not this place. Their breads were delicious, full of flavor and not greasy at all. Even the cornbread was yummy!
The woman working the counter was friendly and chatted with me a bit. I wish my Spanish was better so I could really have a conversation with her.“

“This Latina woman–owned coffee shop is such a hidden gem. From the outside it might look a little rough, but step inside and you’ll be greeted with the warmest service and the most delicious food. “Second time here, first time I had lunch. This time I tried the breakfast quesadilla with grilled chicken & spinach, guacamole and salsa garnish. Delicious! We also ordered the avocado toast with poached eggs, another winner! Both came with fresh fruit. Ordered the Berry ice tea and split a red velvet cheesecake bar. Service was prompt, tea refills and boxes to go. The atmosphere is so quaint and cute. Dine in front of the fireplace, on the front porch, back yard or out front. You decide. Order at counter when you enter and don’t pass the yummy desserts!“

“This is a nice family-owned type place serving primarily Mexican and Mexican-inspired dishes. We went for breakfast and had omelettes - very tasty. The ambience is clean, quiet, and friendly. Prices are in line with the area (this is Hollywood after all) but trending to the more affordable end of the scale. There is a very nice outdoor seating area and a very small parking lot. There is more parking in the nearby area but you'll have to take a short walk. The service was fast, accurate, and attentive. Our overall experience was excellent and we've already decided to come back next time we're in this area.“

“We happened upon this delicious little gem, in Montrose, after viewing the immersive Van Gogh exhibit in Hollywood. Incredibly… the decor was all Van Gogh art prints! Perfectly in tun with our afternoon. The French owner is an absolute delight. We ordered a Moroccan chicken dish and beef bourguignon. The portions were very hearty and absolutely delicious. We also upgraded our dinner to include salad and a lovely blueberry tart for dessert. The entire experience was memorable! We’ll definitely be back and bringing friends!“

Believe it or not! It’s an incredible dish too! They scramble pesto with eggs and give you a few slices of delicious ham and some fruit too! Loved it!

Had an iced latte as well and it did not disappoint!

The restaurant is a gem in WeHo which can often be over the top. People here seem to be chill. Grab a seat by the windows and watch the beautiful over the top people walk by! Great people watching!

My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Sabor y Cultura on our interview date. Hollywood’s Sabor Y Cultura has a clear goal of wanting to bring together as many people as possible with the power of coffee, waffles, arts, and events. It’s really no wonder that Michael enjoys hosting his Outlaws Of Folk series here with its quirky color scheme, spacious floor plan, eye-catching artwork from local artists, and of course, a lovely staff that strives to make sure any patron is comfortable and having a great experience. Apart from the sheer kindness from shop owner Tyler to allow us to film Michael’s interview there, I was graced with a food and drink menu that had me torn on what exactly I wanted to order, in a good way. In the end, I just could not say ‘no’ to the sweet, fresh baked smell of waffles, and opted for a #foodporn worthy strawberry banana Belgian waffle and a dream-y sweet cloud coffee with Irish cream. Whether you’re stopping in to indulge yourself with a scrumptious (and giant!) homemade Belgian waffle with a side of caffeinated perkiness, or you’re sitting in the crowd waiting to discover your new favorite poet, musician, comedian, etc. at one of the many events hosted (check their delightful chalkboard list of events), Sabor Y Cultura is a wonderful spot for visitors from all walks of life to pop in.“
