“I was looking for good pan dulce and found Panaderia La Colmena #1 right across the street from Home Depot.
Sometimes pan dulce will taste like old oil but not this place. Their breads were delicious, full of flavor and not greasy at all. Even the cornbread was yummy!
The woman working the counter was friendly and chatted with me a bit. I wish my Spanish was better so I could really have a conversation with her.“

“This Latina woman–owned coffee shop is such a hidden gem. From the outside it might look a little rough, but step inside and you’ll be greeted with the warmest service and the most delicious food. I had the best breakfast sandwich I’ve had in a long time, and the mazapán latte was out of this world. PERFECTLY made. “Second time here, first time I had lunch. This time I tried the breakfast quesadilla with grilled chicken & spinach, guacamole and salsa garnish. Delicious! We also ordered the avocado toast with poached eggs, another winner! Both came with fresh fruit. Ordered the Berry ice tea and split a red velvet cheesecake bar. Service was prompt, tea refills and boxes to go. The atmosphere is so quaint and cute. Dine in front of the fireplace, on the front porch, back yard or out front. You decide. Order at counter when you enter and don’t pass the yummy desserts!“

“This is a nice family-owned type place serving primarily Mexican and Mexican-inspired dishes. We went for breakfast and had omelettes - very tasty. The ambience is clean, quiet, and friendly. Prices are in line with the area (this is Hollywood after all) but trending to the more affordable end of the scale. There is a very nice outdoor seating area and a very small parking lot. There is more parking in the nearby area but you'll have to take a short walk. The service was fast, accurate, and attentive. Our overall experience was excellent and we've already decided to come back next time we're in this area.“

“Did you know the LGBT Center has a cafe? Liberation Coffee House is all about community. The walls are lined with black-and-white vintage photography from past activism, and every dollar you spend goes straight into life-saving programs for the LGBT community. I know I sound like their marketing manager, but I’m so happy to have a queer space that isn't a bar. The overnight oats taste like a coconut rainbow in your mouth and the coffee is great too!“

They use Rocky’s blend which is socially questionable since it’s not a Japanese brand and high retail pricing but who are we kidding they nail it with the matcha flavor profile: Asian American’s favorite-nutty and umami. Hollywood’s Sabor Y Cultura has a clear goal of wanting to bring together as many people as possible with the power of coffee, waffles, arts, and events. It’s really no wonder that Michael enjoys hosting his Outlaws Of Folk series here with its quirky color scheme, spacious floor plan, eye-catching artwork from local artists, and of course, a lovely staff that strives to make sure any patron is comfortable and having a great experience. Apart from the sheer kindness from shop owner Tyler to allow us to film Michael’s interview there, I was graced with a food and drink menu that had me torn on what exactly I wanted to order, in a good way. In the end, I just could not say ‘no’ to the sweet, fresh baked smell of waffles, and opted for a #foodporn worthy strawberry banana Belgian waffle and a dream-y sweet cloud coffee with Irish cream. I absolutely love Rumors Coffee! Every time I walk in, the place feels warm and welcoming, and the staff is always so kind and genuine.

But I have to mention the highlight: their handmade Bosnian börek. Oh my goodness… it’s incredible! Flaky, fresh, and full of flavor. It honestly tastes like something you’d get in a Bosnian home. I find myself craving it all the time, especially with a hot latte.

“I tried looking for other places where I can study at night without feeling like I’m stuck at the library but came back to tk. While there may be other choices nearby it’s not as warm and friendly. Tk has accessible snacks as well as drinks, good wifi, a bathroom, parking that doesn’t suck, and friendly workers. I like their chicken curry bowl and their spam musubi came out piping hot!“

The food and coffees are great, and the staff is very friendly. It’s easily one of my favorite spots on this stretch of Foothill. I’ll definitely return more frequently when I’m in town!“
