About Pinyon Ventura

Pinyon Ventura is a welcoming addition to downtown Ventura, offering a cozy and elevated dining experience. This second location of the Ojai-based Pinyon family maintains the same high-quality standards with a Ventura twist. The restaurant features wood-fired pizza, a sourdough bakery, and natural wines, providing two distinct experiences: a bakery and café from 8am to 2pm, and dinner service from 3pm to 9pm, Thursday through Monday. The entrance has a charming alley-style walk-up behind Capriccio, making it feel tucked away and special. Inside seating is cozy and limited, so reservations are recommended; outdoor patio seating is available with heaters and a great atmosphere.

The food is thoughtful and well executed, with dishes like the market greens tossed in a fresh vinaigrette and a variety of pizzas, including the popular Emily Alba with a perfect sweet and savory balance, complemented by house-made yuzu ranch. Watching pizzas emerge from the wood-fired oven adds to the experience. The drink menu features natural wines, seasonal spritzes, and locally sourced beers, ciders, and meads.

Guests praise the fresh bread, delicious pastries, and the quality of ingredients, especially the sausage pizza and local fish sashimi. The seasonal menu changes with the seasons, and the vibe is simple, authentic, and unpretentious. While not inexpensive, the restaurant is considered a great spot for a relaxed dinner or date night, offering friendly service, a charming atmosphere, and consistently excellent food.

Love it here…the service, food, & the alley make it one of our favorite spots off Main.
Delicious food. Very, very good tomato pie, pizza, and other items (unfortunately they run out of tomato pie too early). Nice, courteous people working there. Problem is last time I went the music was so loud it was hard to have a conversation. I'd prefer some soft meditative music--I wonder how other customers feel. Are there any good songs about frogs--that seems appropriate given the frog figures displayed? Is there a song from Mr. Toad's Wild Ride? Or frog and swamp sounds...read full review
The Pesto Mystic Pizza is so yummy! Paired the pizza with Long Pause beer and finished it with some cheese cake. Love.
