Taqueria Extra & Cantina is a solid choice for a quick, easy, and tasty lunch. Regulars go here for takeout and it never disappoints. Prices and service are excellent, and the staff and customers are very friendly. The food is a good value for a decent quick meal, especially in Walnut Creek. It is nice they have a salsa bar and include chips with the meals. The super burritos are huge and at the price of a normal burrito most other places. The 'extreme' salsa, which is habanero, is surprisingly good. The carnitas tacos are consistently flavorful and satisfying. The rice is especially good. One of the best deals is the combo: two tacos, rice and/or beans, a drink, plus chips and salsa. The taco special is delicious with good sized portions. Some reviews note the atmosphere is more akin to a fast food restaurant with counter-only service and plastic forks. The kitchen is open, so customers can watch the food being prepared. While the flavors are pretty average overall, the rice and refried beans are both very good.
