“I only been here for breakfast. I ordered the veggies omelet and comes with avocado. Most places charge extra. They have a salsa bar and they bring fresh chips to your table. On the weekends they have a live band. “They have multiple large screens around the dining room and in patio. Lots of fun to watch your favorite team with friends. Since they're owned by North Woods Inn, they serve some of the same foods, including red cabbage and Iceberg lettuce with blue cheese dressing salads and their incredible cheese bread (at a lower price).The price I'm quoting below, per person includes one or two drinks (alcohol).Parking: Never a problem getting a spot, even when they're busy.“

This place is literally the representation of the American dream. I grew up in this neighborhood since elementary, left into my twenties all over the place. I was originally looking for a quick bite at Maria's Bakery down the street but they were closed. Decided FINALLY try this place on a whim. Me and my buddy always told each other we would try it out one day but man ... if I had known such great people were running this place, I would have came sooner. Me being Asian American myself and in the restaurant industry... I felt it the moment I stepped foot inside... Best way to sum it up is "Real recognize Real". You can tell that they really love what they do and they do it well. It's something special to keep a place going for 77 years. Most restaurants now outsource products from big companies, everything pretty much tasting the same... but the moment I tried my food, I can tell a lot of it is done the old fashioned way. The beef for the sandwich, the pickles, the peppers ... does NOT taste like anywhere else. I've never been to Philippe's in LA but I would probably safely assume this can go toe to toe with them no question! Beef dip gravy you can tell made from the drippings and not purchased from SYSCO and the coleslaw was well balanced. Simon and Margarette really make the place what it is, a true mom and pop Asian American owned Restaurant with the heart and soul of Los Angeles food culture for what it was, is and should be!“
“Finished a round of golf found this place near by got seated right away. Place was packed we were lucky to find a table right away staff was friendly food was good had a great time with family enjoying our breakfast. Recommend it when you are around this area.“

“I was staying at a friends house and asked if any of his local places did proper wholesome food and he recommended here! He also said it was family run, which a major plus for me, as I like to support such places if I can.We went along and after a fun chat with the waitress, placed our orders. We had soup and salad for starters, with absolutely delicious bread!Then we had Beef Pot Pie, with mashed potato, greens and thick gravy (Just like back in the UK). I have to say, it was delicious and I never thought I'd be able to have a pie and gravy in the states, like back home.This was all finished with ice-cream and I have to say the Mint choc chip reminded me of the equivalent Viennetta from home. The taste and texture, identical, which was good.Overall, the experience was excellent and the food hit the mark perfectly. I wish we had a similar place back in the UK near me.“

“Been going to Penny's since it was on Hacienda & Maplegrove (bout 25 yrs ago) Hadn't been in a while Had steak & eggs with HOUSE POTATOES and it was all so tasty & delicious!! Waitess was nice but seemed new. The only drawback was she seemed to get busy with a couple of other tables and didn't come back to our side for most of our stay. Waited for coffee refill until I was done with my food. Only one more person behind the counter. Overall a good experience based on the food...and that amazing house salsa!“
