We've rounded up Cortez's top Mexican spots for you to try.
“The "Tequila's Special" is really good. It's shrimp cooked over charcoal in a green tomatillo sauce with rice (no beans). I really liked this dish. It's mildly spicy, but not picante. The carne asada dinner is really good. It's a thin steak that's marinated and cooked over charcoal. It came with rice and beans. The beans were really good, but the rice was average. The house salsa was average. It was mostly diced tomatoes with some onions, but it wasn't spicy at all.We ordered a jumbo margarita for $15. It tasted pretty good, but it was mostly ice.The chicken enchilada in red sauce was a disappointment. It had no flavor, and the enchilada shell was very mushy. Our waiter and the chips person were super attentive. The food came out quickly.“
“Our first time tonight and we were all very pleased. There was plenty of space in their outside patio seating. They even made a special effort to make us 3 "Crispy" Rellenos that were not on the Menu and they were MUCHO BIENO! (My Spanish is not very good but the Chili Rellenos WERE!!). The service was just as fantastic as the food and we would definitely go back!!! All the servers wore a mask and we felt very comfortable during these COVID-19 times. 5 star!“
“Everything about this place is great. The food is exceptional and you can tell that it is made with love. The staff are equally amazing, very personable, attentive and very kind. You can tell that this establishment is one that is run by people who genuinely love what they do!“
“A really fun Mexican restaurant. The food was good. I liked the mushroom appetizer. I didn’t love my vegetable burrito. But, it was okay! My companions liked their dishes - grilled fish tacos, chicken fajita. One thing though - their salsa is delicious!! Guacamole, not as much.“
“Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Restaurant and bar were clean. Prices were good. Decor was good. Simply nothing to complain about in this well-run establishment. Take your significant other or your family and kids there with confidence.“
“Beny's Diner in Cortez, CO is a great place to visit for a nice, sit down restaurant! The food is delicious, the service is top notch, and the environment and atmosphere is very accommodating and wholesome. If you're in the Four Corners area, I'd highly recommend Beny's Diner for your next breakfast or lunch meal!“
“A friend and I were looking for a lunch spot and this was open and not crowded! So happy to go here! I ordered two sopes: carnitas and chicken and they were huge. I would not order two again although my husband loved a sope for dinner. Salsa bar was nice and very good. Do not miss this spot in Cortez.“
