I had read The Lost Cajun story & had high hopes for good authentic Cajun food. What a letdown!
We had lunch today & I was eager to try the seafood gumbo. After one spoonful, I was shocked! This was neither authentic nor homemade. It had 3 teeny tiny 1/2 inch shrimp, & I couldn't see any crab at all. It was very thin, watery, & was just awful, to tell the truth. The Lost Cajun is a family favorite. Wether it be a quick bite for lunch or an awesome meal before the movies (just down the street from the theater) it is truly the best. Amanda and Eddy are phenomenal folks who take care of their customers. It’s always a joy to go in. They know our typical order and have it out quickly. A family owned business in small town Pagosa is one that can’t be beat!

The Lost Cajun is a casual restaurant known for its friendly service and delicious food. The menu has recently changed, now featuring the San Juan Eatery with a variety of options. The fried fish & shrimp remain amazing, light, and not greasy. The Cat-touffee, fried catfish over crawfish etouffee with rice, is still fried perfectly and not tough. The beignets continue to be crispy and unique, offering a tasty twist. The restaurant is family-owned and provides a delightful experience, with some entrees named after the family’s rescued pets and farm animals, complete with their photos. Parking is available in a free public lot across the street. The restaurant is kid-friendly, and the staff, including Amanda, is incredibly upbeat and friendly. The Gator bites, Boudin Balls, Fried fish platter, jambalaya, and beignets are all yummy. Customers have enjoyed the gumbo, bar-b-Que shrimp, and blackened shrimp tacos, which come with a spicy sauce on the side. The ambiance is casual, making it a great spot to visit when in town, and it is well worth the trip.
