“When I discovered Roxbury Market in the eighties, it soon became one of my favorite destinations. I lived in Bethel, but I’d drive up to Roxbury several times a week for sandwiches. It was remodeled sometime in the nineties, and the small back room had tables to enjoy meals with friends. We’d meet there by Jeep, motorcycle, or whatever and sit for an hour sharing a great sandwich, coffee and soft drinks. I moved to Florida in 2004 and miss the Marketplace. But we manage to visit at least once a year when we come back to Roxbury in autumn.“

Even though the avocados were not ripe enough to serve, I truly enjoyed my breakfast burrito without them. The burrito was really satisfying and made with care. My husband enjoyed his ham and cheese. Also, the prices were great. I saw on Google that the name of the place, Quisqueya, means “cradle of life" -- I felt the deep vibe of this open hearted place as soon as I walked in. I hope I can happen by again. PS: The thing with avocados not being ripe enough to serve has happened many other places this year -- it's just a thing that is happening these days....“
