“We absolutely regret not stopping in sooner! We ordered on a whim tonight on our way through. Although told many times the food was great. Tonight they proved it! The grinder was great the tenders were perfect and the wings were nice and crispy! We will absolutely be back to try additional things on the menu! Great job 👏 and the staff were super friendly!“

“There are restaurants you visit—and then there are restaurants you experience. Mama Italia Ristorante is undeniably the latter.
At the heart of this extraordinary place is Marco Baldieri, a chef whose life story reads like a love letter to Italian cuisine. Marco is not only the chef, but the owner, the soul, and the heartbeat of Mama Italia. Well known throughout the United States for opening and leading highly successful restaurants, he has earned recognition in countless magazines and newspapers—yet here, in the charming town of Woodstock, Connecticut, he has chosen to create something intimate, authentic, and deeply personal.
Walking into Mama Italia feels like stepping off a cobblestone street in Rome. The ambiance is old-school Italian in the most beautiful way—warm, inviting, timeless. The aromas alone transport you straight to Italy, but it’s the feeling that stays with you: the sense of being welcomed into someone’s home rather than seated at a table.
Chef Marco is famously hands-on. You’ll often see him greeting guests, checking on plates, sharing stories, and making every diner feel like family. His presence is genuine, charismatic, and deeply rooted in Italian hospitality. This is a man who doesn’t just cook Italian food—he lives it.
Every dish reflects decades of mastery, passion, and respect for tradition. The flavors are bold yet elegant, comforting yet refined—each bite a reminder of why Italian cuisine is celebrated worldwide. It is not about trends or theatrics here; it is about soul, history, and perfection achieved through simplicity.
Mama Italia is truly a diamond—small, adorable, and priceless. It is the kind of place people talk about long after the meal ends, the kind of restaurant you feel honored to discover. Dining here is not just a pleasure; it is a privilege.
If you ever find yourself in Woodstock, Connecticut, securing a table at Mama Italia is an experience you will treasure. To eat here is to travel to Rome without leaving New England—and to be welcomed by one of the finest Italian chefs this country has ever known. 🇮🇹✨

“Best restaurant in town. Great food, awesome staff, been going here for years and they even catered my wedding. Love Gus’s Pub! P.S. - My daughter has worked here for years and the owners treat their employees very well! As for the person who posted a review below…the check/money were found in a dishwasher bucket, they got swiped up by accident. (But regardless, it never would’ve taken it out of her paycheck, even if it had been stolen.) The customer deleted their post after Gus’s reached out. Sad to see this place being slandered based on a misunderstanding.“

“THANK YOU!!!!! I used to live in Moosup 21 years ago. Would get pizza and grinders here. I am visiting family here from Kentucky and all I have wanted is a cooked salami grinder. I found a place in fall river where I'm staying with my son. It wasn't cooked salami and the bread was like a hot dog bun. I was visiting my uncle tonight and I ordered the same (wheddles??? In sterling). The bread was horrible, but at least I got cooked salami. I asked my son to bring me by frankos as I knew I used to get grinders here and they were good. I asked if they could separate the meat and vegis in a container and wrap the bread for me, as we had just gone out for dinner and they did. When I got back to my son's house I made a small sandwich and it was GREAT!!!! THANK YOU!!! Bread was great, actual cooked salami. Third time's a charm. Im happy I got a real grinder before I head back to Kentucky.“
