“ABSOLUTE BEST NOT GUILTY PLEASURE! Came in having car trouble and part delays by ANOTHER month earlier today. Walking in, I was greeted by Jonathan and he humored every one of my questions and even said because I was so “bubbly” it was on them! I hadn’t yet told him what happened that day until after!! At the end, I left with a new beanie, a bag full of amazing food I’m eating now, and a heart so good. Jonathan told me their motto statement which atm I can’t remember but the gist was unwavering appreciation and amazing hospitality. Checked both of those boxes! “Outstanding food in the heart of New Haven. It's a small, clean place with huge portion sizes. The service was attentive and the staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the different dishes. I had the lomo saltado (classic Peruvian stir-fried beef dish with fries) and my dining partner had a Peruvian rotisserie chicken sandwich. The food is flavorful and an assortment of sauces were provided to add different flavor profiles - spicy, sweet, tangy, etc. We sampled some sauces, which tasted great, but the food was well-seasoned, so we did not need to add any sauces. We both left happy and full. On another date, I also ordered an arroz con mariscos (rice with seafood). There was many pieces of seafood (mussels, crab, shrimp, squid) and it reminded me of the times I had paella in Spain. Icaru is an excellent addition to the New Haven food scene and is a must try for people interested in exploring the diversity of dining in New Haven!“
“First tried it about a month ago and have been addicted since. The chicken has good flavor and is very juicy. I tried the sweet heat bowl last time and it is amazing. It has such great flavor. I highly recommend trying Haven Hot Chicken if you are a chicken person. We have gone 4 times and have not been disappointed yet.“

“Counter lady was nice but made me go back home to get a coupon. I ordered a to go order but came inside to check it out. My order was a seafood boil 1lb. Of crab legs,1/2 lb. Of shrimps(it comes with/ 3 corn on the cobs & 3 mini potatoes) w/ Cajun sauce.My bf got the hot wings(they weren't hot) & the hot chicken sandwich (not hot)w/ Mac & cheese(the Mac & cheese was hotter than the chicken it had a kick). The seafood was way tastier than the chicken. I recommend the seafood not the chicken. I'll be back was the seafood! The inside was too small to eat inside! While I was there there were many orders on the phone & two ppl. Walked in. This is a new place & I thought I'll check it out!“
