The Smithy Reviews
Last night, I had an extremely disappointing experience at The Smithy that I feel compelled to share. I ordered a porterhouse steak cooked rare—a cut I’m very familiar with and regularly enjoy at various steakhouses in the area. Several members of my party also ordered porterhouse steaks, requesting medium rare.
When the meals arrived, it was immediately apparent that my steak was more well done than those served to my companions, despite my request for rare. I politely...read full review
Had a party of ten tonight for my brothers birthday. Many of us in the area have not been here before and it was an absolutely awesome time. Food, atmosphere and service was wonderful. Zach was with our table and he was so accommodating, with top customer service communication. Couldn’t recommend it higher. A must if and when in the area. We will be back. Thanks Zach and chef !
* footnote. The prime rib special was a 10/10. Haven’t had anything like it in years.
I’ve been going to The Smithy for over 35 years! You can always count on a delicious meal, calming and cozy atmosphere and great, friendly service! Thank you for another enjoyable night out with friends. Jake, our server, was a delight!!!

The Smithy is a restaurant that offers a nostalgic 70's steakhouse atmosphere. It is known for its high-quality steaks, cooked to perfection, and the classic salad bar. Many guests appreciate the old school feel, with diners watching the chef grill their dinner while choosing from the self-serve salad bar. The menu includes a variety of options, such as a French onion soup starter. The soup’s flavor is praised, though some note the cheese may be mozzarella instead of the traditional Gruyère. Customers often comment on the tender, juicy chicken breast and the prime rib special, which received a perfect 10/10 rating. The prime rib is highly recommended, along with the lobster tail, which is described as “the bomb.”
The restaurant has a reputation for consistency and high standards, frequently ranking among top dining experiences. Entrees such as the porterhouse and filet are cooked to order and served with well-prepared baked potatoes, with optional toppings like bacon and chives for an extra charge. The warm, inviting atmosphere makes for a great dining environment, especially with the cozy fireplace on chilly nights. The staff is friendly and attentive, with servers like Colleen and Zac praised for their excellent service—enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and engaging without being pushy. Waitstaff are known for respectful gestures like “ladies first.” The dessert menu features favorites like the brownie sundae and strawberry cheesecake, which add a sweet ending to the meal.
Many guests appreciate the top-notch service and delicious food, making it a restaurant worth visiting again. Improvements could be made in certain areas, but overall, The Smithy remains a highly recommended place for a special dinner or casual night out.
