“Loved this place! The restaurant was clean and colorful. The staff were friendly. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced, especially for how good and fresh it was. They brought us warm tortilla chips with yummy salsa to start. I got tacos with carne asada, pollo, and al pastor pork. All were great and came on delicious homemade corn tortillas. My boyfriend got the best burrito he’s ever had. We’ll definitely be going back!“

I loved the Seafood Tower and hubby enjoyed his Fajita Nochos. Dessert was big enough for two. Our server was Awesome! Loved our experience!!! All new tables inside really looked good. They are celebrating their 22 years anniversary serving good food and very well proportioned. Thank you Ixtapa for a great Sunday afternoon. And thanks for more than enough leftover to take home for dinner tonight. Four meals.. Yeah!“

“I'm originally from Texas and I was raised on food this good and well prepared, but usually you had to be invited to a Sunday cookout with your buddy and their 50 closest relatives for this level. The service is great, the food comes out quick and fresh, the flavors are top notch and very authentic for South Texas/ Northern Mexico. We've been twice and we're excited that we've found actual Mexican cuisine up here. Who would have thought Wallingford would have such a gem! Wallingford is for Foodies I'm quickly finding out.“

“It's a been a few years since I last visited, but I still think about this place from time to time. Whenever I'd visit my friend in New Haven, we'd always come here to feast on tacos and other offerings like tortas. The tacos are great value: $8 for 4 tacos for most of the selections. Best of all, they have my favorite variety of taco: tacos de lengua. Granted that the tacos de lengua come at a bit of a premium compared to the other varieties, but I'm more than willing to pay the extra $2. The taco fillings were generous and the chips + pico de gallo + salsa verde that came with each order was fresh. I wish they also gave radishes with the taco orders, but that's a minor thing. Next time I'm in New Haven, I'd be sure to come back here to have those tacos again.“

“They were super helpful and missed my call when I tried to order but they promptly called me back and I was thinking of getting hot dogs at the time with my friend but then since they called I was like ok and I got the daily burrito and was very very pleased with the burrito but it backfired because my friend asked why I didn’t get them one and now it’s closed so now I’m in deeeeeeeep trouble. But the food was great and the service and people were great so all in all a win.“

“I got this cake for my daughter’s birthday, and it was a showstopper! The guests couldn’t stop raving about it, many even asked where I got it. The pineapple and coconut frosting perfectly creamy, and the texture was spot-on. It was a hit with everyone and made the celebration even more special! absolutely unforgettable!“

“Get the Caldo de Mariscos if you want a huge portion of seafood - comes with tortillas, lime wedges, and diced onions and fresh cilantro, filled with mussels, crab and shrimp! Straight from heaven! Everything was delicious and the waitress was so friendly and answered all our questions. They were playing music from the bar area which added to the festive atmosphere, and we loved the decor inside. Will definitely return!“

“Visited in December 2025. Torito Mexican Restaurant in New Haven is a fantastic spot for flavorful food, great drinks, and warm, attentive service. The menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of Mexican dishes with non-vegetarian and vegetarian options. The restaurant is spacious, with ample seating and comfortable booths, creating a relaxed and welcoming dining atmosphere.
