“This review is a part of my quest of visiting all CT breweries. I tried beers from Lasting Brass at bars before, but this was my first visit to the brewery.

The brewery occupies a separate building near a picturesque area with a river. It has 2 separated outdoor patios and a small area indoors. No food is served inside, but food trucks might are onsite occasionally.

I already had several favorite beers from Lasting Brass, because they were not shy to experiment with flavors. So this time I tried all beers they had on tap. Luckily, there is an option to order a small pour. I have to say, that some beers really impressed me. All the beers I tried were solid, crushable and tasty. But the special place in my heart is reserved to their flagship beers - Java Bloom (Imperial Stout) and Contusion (Sour IPA). These 2 were really bursting with flavor, that was complex and layered. On top of the beers, I thoroughly enjoyed the community in this place. It was filled with regulars, everyone knew each other and it was just a really cozy and friendly environment.

I do recommend this brewery to everyone and it is worth a dedicated trip.“

“I recently tried the chicken parm grinder at Mad River Creamery & Deli, and it was a really solid choice. The chicken cutlet was nicely breaded, tender, and held up well under the sauce. The marinara was flavorful — tangy with a hint of sweetness — and there was a generous amount of melted cheese that pulled everything together. The bread was fresh and hearty with a nice toasted soft crunch to it , the kind of roll that didn’t get soggy after a few bites, which made the sandwich feel substantial but balanced. I liked that there was a good ratio of chicken to sauce to bread. Service was friendly and efficient, owner welcomed us and provided free ice cream samples as we waited for our grinders ( husband got the steak and cheese for his 3rd time ) being a deli, the portion felt more like a meal than a quick snack. The atmosphere at Mad River Creamery & Deli is welcoming — cozy and laid-back, perfect for grabbing a bit with a friend (or after getting some ice cream). Already know what I want when I return . “I stumbled across The Loaded Goat completely by accident one day during a festival on the green, and I swear it was the happiest coincidence ever. From that day on, I haven’t stopped going back literally, I’m there daily. The vibes, the people, the quality… everything about this place just makes you want to keep coming back. The staff is always so warm and welcoming, and they treat you like family from the moment you walk in. Not to mention, my dog is just as obsessed as I am! He knows exactly where we’re going every morning and practically drags me to the door for his pup cup. They always make him feel special, and seeing him light up makes my whole day. The coffee is consistently amazing, the atmosphere is cozy and friendly, and the overall experience is unmatched. The Loaded Goat is one of those rare spots that becomes part of your routine without even trying. If you haven’t been yet GO. You won’t stop going either. ☕️🐶💛“

“I happened to meet Tom Kelly while visiting Newport, RI, where he introduced to this bourbon from my home state of Connecticut. His depth of knowledge about the product intrigued me and I told him that back in Atlanta, I host a monthly meet up dubbed the B4 Group (beef, beer, bourbon & boys.) We, in part, we'll sample about 5 new bourbons each time and we'll try any and all newcomers. Tom suggested we bring a bottle of Litchfield back to toss into the mix, which he helped make it happen. It turned out to be a big hit with the guys and I got to showcase a bourbon from my home state of CT. Thanks again, Tom!“

“So I have to give so much praise to this winery. First off Jeff is absolutely amazing. I reached out to him back in Feburary asking about using the winery to get married in April and Jeff was so easy to talk to and was so easy to make plans with so I had the best day. Second off a huge shoutout to the staff of the winery. I was married on April 13th 2024 and it was rainy, windy, and incredibly cold. They let us get married on their deck and out of the rain no questions asked. I went back today on 4/15 to pick up a bottle of wine because I want to have it to drink on my one year wedding anniversary of a wonderful memory of the beautiful place we got married at. The ladies behind the bar were so kind and helped me pick the best wine to my liking. Thank you so much for giving me a beautiful place to get married and a beautiful place to have created beautiful memories with those I love the most. Thank you again Jeff and crew for making this bride incredibly happy. ***Edit to add I got married April of 2024. My feelings are still the same about this beautiful establishment.***“

“Beer is good but we are saddened that they will no longer have the card purchase for $50 for 11 beers. It was a good value. This may deter us from coming. If it is not working for black hog maybe raise price of card a little? We love the beer but beer is becoming expensive at all of the breweries. May stop coming out to the establishments unfortunately.“

“Went to La Strega today for lunch. What a great place! Had one of the best deli sandwiches I have had in quite a long time. I had The Annie and I added sopressata. All deli meat was sliced razor thin, just the way it’s supposed to be. Very flavorful. The staff there were super friendly and you felt like you were home! I will return for sure!“

“great pizza I definitely recommend them I like their homemade sauce pizza sauce and I love their bacon pizza it's real bacon not the fake stuff in their pepperoni is good too on the pizza I get other times when I have gone there“

“They make the greatest croissants, English muffin bread and bacon egg and cheeses. She makes the croissants and English muffin bread from scratch, and uses the thickest bacon around on her sandwiches. Everyday there’s something new in the baked goods case, and I never regret getting it (cough cough carrot cake cheese cake coffee cake) 🤤. Love hearts is truly a hidden gem“

“We visited Middlebury's greatest ice cream while we made a stop in Middlebury, Connecticut. Despite being a small store, they are able to produce a wide variety of flavors. We were served by a really nice young girl.
The ice cream tastes great. Worth the stop, it is situated in a little strip center.“

“We have been to Uncommon many times and the food is always amazing and we have always had a great experience all around but I want to say we had the absolute best service here tonight so I wanted to thank our server Justin D. for an outstanding dining experience tonight. Justin was professional and has a really fun personality. Even though the restaurant was crazy busy we never had to ask for anything, Justin was just there anytime we needed anything. The support staff also did an amazing job tonight as well keeping the table clear of empty glasses and dishes and running food. Just an over all lovely experience.“

“Highly recommend this restaurant. The refried beans are made in house and the best we’ve had. The plates were authentic and transports you to Mexico. Definitely a meal we will be thinking about forever. Coco was our server and create a great atmosphere to compliment the food. You won’t be disappointed with this place!“

“They have a great staff which makes the food even better tasting I've been coming here since they oppened and have never had anything on the menu that wasn't excellent !!!!! 10/10 in my book. Update 24Jul25, ordered a pizza for delivery. It wasn't anywhere near what it used to be when they 1st opened!! Maybe staff or owners have changed, I don't know but it wasn't what I remember it being. Crust was a bit hard and it had an Oily Glaze on the cheese!? I thought it would have been much better?“

“Stopped during a long trip for a bathroom break. Only one bathroom here so there was a line. But the staff didn't bother anyone waiting. Wound up getting a coffee ☕️ specialty drink to go.
Worked out fine for us.
