“Absolutely stunning spot! Bird House Café in South Windsor is such a hidden gem. The outdoor seating area is magical—especially the cozy fire pit, which adds such a warm and inviting vibe. Perfect for a relaxed catch-up or a quiet moment with your coffee. Speaking of which, the coffee was excellent—smooth, rich, and clearly made with care. I also tried the biscotti, and it was delicious and very reasonably priced. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere make this a place I’ll keep coming back to. Highly recommend!“

“This review is a part of my quest of visiting all CT breweries. Around 2019 I came to Connecticut Valley Brewing Company and bought one of each beers they had. It ended up being about 4 dozens of delicious beer. So I planned this visit to the taproom only as a formality. However, the overall experience was a bit worse.

The place is big - it has a huge indoor space with multiple seating options, including couches. No separation, just one big room. Plus there is a big patio for warmer months. The went for a plane theme and decorated the room with it. It is a bit noisy inside when there are many people, but still manageable. The brewery has an excellent selection of beers of various styles. Since I tried every beer they had over the years of going to beer festivals where CTVBC is always present, I can say that their beers are amazing. Every style they produce is delicious. From the latest visits I would recommend Spiked Smoothie Strawberry Lemonade (Fruit Beer) and Camper's Maple Stout, as they just boast rich taste. You can also order beer flights, although the options are limited to 12 taps only.

There is a food served via a separate business which coexists in the same building - Birdhouse Coffee Shop. And this was a downer. I will leave a separate review for this business, as blaming the brewery for the quality of food is unfair. But this coexistence means, that you are now limited in food options and cannot bring your own or order from a food truck. So you're stuck with a very mediocre food and slow service.

Other problems I experienced were:
- Messing up my order. One bartender asked for beer numbers from the menu, while the other one asked for the names. The latter one messed up my position.
- By the end of Monday, which is not too busy of a day, restrooms lacked the paper towels.

Overall, the beers are great. The theme of the taproom is awesome. The service might have been better.“

“First time trying this place , and we did take out . The food wasn’t hot or even warm, which was a little disappointing but we were hungry and still ate it . Aside from that , we really enjoyed the food . Mac and cheese was very delicious and different from regular Mac and cheese . The burnt ends, were so tender and melted in your mouth. The pulled pork sandwich was also very delicious .
Will definitely be back to give them another try .“

“My husband and I love this place. It is a one person operation, not a place to go if your in a hurry. The food is great. The proprietor and the customers are friendly. You get a real homecooked breakfast. Great lunches and phenominol corned beef and cabbage in March.“

“Took a trip to DiFiore Ravioli shop in Ellington, CT. They make 15 varieties of homemade Ravioli, sauces, oils, amazing desserts, and more. We picked up the TENDERLOIN & BACON ravioli, and the SHRIMP & ROASTED GARLIC ravioli. They were out of the lobster ravioli, but we picked up the homemade Tiramasu. While there we saw they made gourmet sandwiches, which we ordered and ate outside. They were amazing, so big, we could only eat half (pics taken after we started) Great place, staff were fantastic!! Very nice people. We will definitely return!!!“

“I usually always have a great experience when I’m here. Pratt street isn’t an easy place to have a restaurant and yet they’ve been doing well and keeping up with the times. With their recent renovations I feel the atmosphere is that much better.“

“Nice brewery. Indoor area is nice and has a nice vibe. The outside area has a two tiered patio. The top patio has metal chairs and tables. The lower level of the patio has astroturf with birdcage type seating along with a tented area with large picnic tables for larger groups. They did have music playing both inside and outside but at a nice level that was enjoyable and not distrustful towards conversation.“

“Tenth Hole Tavern is the best spot for casual dining/takeout this side of Glastonbury. Their food is excellent and the staff really knows how to show the customers a good time. Kendall and Kelly are the nicest and are very accommodating. Not to mention the full bar, expansive beer selection, and wide variety on the menu. Some of my personal favorites include the chicken tenders (with their house made buffalo sauce), the buttermilk chicken sandwich, and the oven roasted turkey wrap. “Short Version! Best smoked BBQ. Cannot recommend enough. Chef and staff are excellent. Wethersfield has a gem — the ‘secret’ needs to get out! Long Version! Earlier this week, to celebrate our anniversary, my wife and I went to a smoked barbecue restaurant, Smoked on Main, in Wethersfield. It was her surprise to me. I did not know where we were headed. Both of us love BBQ, my wife grew up in the Kansas — St Louis area; I had spent quite a bit of time in Dallas, our daughter lives in Carolina. There you have it: Kansas City, Texas, and Carolina BBQ! After we arrived and parked, we decided to walk a bit as its location is in an incredibly beautiful quintessential New England restored area (we live in New Haven). There are numerous beautiful old homes (dating from the 17th century), a colonial cemetery started in 1634, the same year as Wethersfield was founded. When I read over the menu, by its choices, its depth and descriptions, including several additional smaller a la carte menus (including the one for five different varieties of smoked tacos) I knew this was some place special. But I reserved my opinion until the food arrived. My wife had the smoked St Louis ribs; I had smoked spicy pork and smoked steak tacos along with the corn salad. Some, if not all, was the best I’ve ever eaten. After I saw the food presentations, tried them, coupled with the sophistication of the menu, I believed the chef had to have been professionally trained. His name is Bronislaw (Bernie) Gorski, and came out to say hello. He is a classically trained chef, started at Ernie’s in San Francisco having been a chef in NYC, Paris, and Brazil, to name just a few. We talked shop for some time. Delightful and incredibly knowledgeable. I say shop because while not in his league, when I was much younger, I was trained as a chef and sommelier in a French restaurant, and worked in the industry for quite some time, including as a consultant. That background expertise is what led me to expect and recognize the quality and presentation of the menu. I cannot recommend Smoked on Main enough. It has not been open long and also does catering. I want to give a ‘shout out’ to Wethersfield. If you are not yet aware of the rich culinary gem you have in your wonderful city — please give them a try! They do a brisk take-out business as well. Thanks to Bernie and to Jennifer who serves as a mainstay there in the evenings (and met us outside as we we were coming in — so hospitable). All the best. We had a delightful time.“
