“Kotobuki is an authentic Japanese restaurant with excellent food and service. The head chef is the owner -- Masanori Sato, who goes informally by the moniker "Masa." Masa is always busy, behind the such bar, creating his excellent delicacies. My favorite is the sushi and sushi rolls -- always fresh and delicious. In addition to the traditional rolls, there are some wonderful in-house creations such as the Spicy Betty Roll, Lobster Roll (my wife's favorite), and my favorite, the Kevin Roll. The latter, in deference to the national color of Ireland, is spicy tuna wrapped in slices of tuna, fried, and covered with avocado (green, of course). The setting is not overdone, to say the least, but is very basic -- a variety of wooden tables surrounded by walls enhanced with various pieces of art appropriate to the cuisine and culture. The tables are separated by cloth partitions highlighting Japanese scenery. The table service is excellent, the staff is very accommodating, and shout-outs are certainly appropriate for Mr. Sato's wife (head waitress) and Jenny (one of the welcoming waitresses). Moreover, the dining room is very quiet, conducive to conversing with cohorts without the need to raise one's voice. It should be mentioned that Kotobuki remained open during the pandemic, serving both take-out meals AND in-house specialties.“

“I just ‘rediscovered’ this wonderful sushi restaurant in Stamford. The new owner, Fiona is wonderful. Friendly and knowledgeable about her menu options as well. Lulu was my waitress. She was terrific. The service is very good. The (3) sushi chefs are very talented. Great, fresh and delicious offerings. Even the kitchen has delicious pan fried pork dumplings and drunken noodles. I’ll definitely become a ‘regular patron’ here again! 😎🙌🏻❤️👍🏻“

“This might genuinely be my favorite restaurant in Stamford. I hold it close to my heart, not only because of how great the food is but because it’s always been there. The service and atmosphere is always in tip top shape, never lacking or dirty. The food is on another level for the all you can eat, insanely delicious and fresh. Whenever we’re celebrating something or just on a night out, we know that we can always rely on Sushi X2.“

“I finally got to try this restaurant after the shut down of Ichiban and I was not disappointed, the chicken teriyaki has a more soy taste to it than sweet which I didn’t mind from Ichiban. The chicken teriyaki was delicious but the only critic I have is, for the extra portions of meat or shrimp plating it better in the tray because the sauce was dripped all over the place. Other than the plating critic, that’s all I have to say, good job and Welcome!

“Amazing food! Among all the takeout options in Stamford, Kampei stands out as one of the best, if not the best. I can't pick just one favorite dish because everything is consistently delicious, but I particularly love their Japanese bento boxes, sushi bar offerings, chow fun, and shredded duck. Whether you choose takeout or dine-in, the atmosphere and service are both excellent. Highly recommended!“
