Hardcore Sweet Bakery Bakery • $$

“Hardcore cupcakes are genuinely the best cupcakes I have ever had. The cupcakes are the perfect texture, and they have the perfect amount of moisture. Personally I do not like super sweet frosting on cupcakes, the frosting on these cupcakes is amazing its not too sweet or strong but just right. Every time I've been there the workers are very nice, patient and understanding while I am indecisive about what flavors I want. The actual store is very cool inside the decorations are bright and interesting. I haven't had much other things from here but they do look amazing, and I can't wait to try more!“

“Really helpful, patient staff when putting together a larger order of perfectly made baked goods. Their bismarks stand out as exceptional in a group of really wonderful options. The brownies are also a hidden gem; chewy, chocolatey and dense. Perfect place to get dessert after you grab a hot dog from Frankie’s!“

The soups are great and everything on the cold salad bar is fantastic as well. Great for to go or dine-in, I recommend eating outside there's so much more space and it's very nice they have plenty of chairs and tables.“

“We have never had a bad meal at Saltwater Grille. The only thing missing is the water view! The smoked Salmon plate appetizer is fantastic! My go to dinner is the Lobster Mushroom Ravioli...You can opt out of the mushrooms if they are something you are not fond of. My son always likes the 1/2 Duck...although he often gets seafood also. The other family favorite is the Artichoke Encrusted Salmon, it sounds strange but it is wonderful. You really can't go wrong on anything at Saltwater Grille!!!“

Southbury Baking Company Bakery • $$
250 Main St S, Southbury - 10.5 miles

“They are so kind and friendly here. I was warmly welcomed this morning when I went in to buy some snacks and goodies just because. I picked an item that I thought was the last item and the gentleman that was helping me was "oh I'll have to bring out some more." My response was if you have another one I'll gladly take it and they made another one for me on the fly. I was super appreciative and my fiance definitely approved. Thank you again for the kindness and the delicious goodies I'm happy to enjoy. You've made it such a welcoming environment.“

Sumpin Sweet Treats Bakery • $$$
107 Main St N, Woodbury - 5.66 miles

“Wonderful little pastry and bakery shop. The place might be small but gosh! The quality is really high. I walked away with the Tres Leches (3 milk) cake and their Coconut cream tart as well as a slice of pound cake to snack on. My friend had the same coconut cream tart and ordered a bunch of their cookies - neither of us were complaining. I practically inhaled my tres leches cake. The owner is friendly as well. When I asked her which 3 milks did she use for her tres leches cake, I asked because the recipe I use has coconut milk. She said that she can't use coconut milk because "this is Connecticut" which I'm guessing means that even something as bland as coconut milk is probably too exotic for Connecticut WASPs. Still I hope this place sticks around because her offerings are wonderful and Woodbury needs some a dose of exoticness.“

You can tell they are using quality ingredients. Gluten free options galore. We got take out but they have indoor and outdoor dining. We are local but how lucky for the Rt 84 travelers that happen to get off the highway right there to gas up and eat. A healthy fresh meal on the road is hard to find. What a little treasure in Middlebury, Connecticut“

“ORIGIN: The cafe is one of several Bantam-based offshoots associated with Arethusa Dairy Farm in Litchfield. LOCATION: Arethusa A Mano is located on the main thoroughfare that crosses Bantam. At times the parking lot is crowded, but parking behind Arethusa Dairy across the street is a good alternative. FOOD and BEVERAGES: The cafe serves sandwiches and baked goods that are not commonly found in this area. For example, cronuts -- a flaky cross between a donut and croissant can be found in the pastry case. Likewise, beverages with unique flavors, such as gingerbread latte are prepared and served. AMBIANCE: Beside the order counter and display case are many cafe tables. The white panel walls are fitted with photos from the farm associated with the cafe. Large windows wrap across two sides, allowing a sun-filled dining area.“
