“Had a gift card to The Russell, and was excited to visit because we had heard good things for years! My fiancé especially loves Jamaican cuisine, so I knew he would love it here. The beef patty, fried chicken, and jerk chicken were all delicious, and we loved our sides of rice & peas, sweet plantains, and steamed cabbage. I really liked the vibe and the staff was nice and attentive. We would definitely come back when we’re craving Jamaican food!“
“Amazing food!I love EVERYTHING, but the spicy squash patty is my fave! Every time I go there they're removing items from the menu that have sold out. Get there early.Dietary restrictions: Plenty for the vegan to eat at Likkle's.You know... like Everything.“
“My favorite is the salmon and Rasta pasta (spicy). Food is great and service as well.Located downtown Hartford. You can take it to go or eat in. Cozy little place. I come from New York at least once every two months to get my food from this establishment“
“Needed something for dinner after a long day and decided to stop in after work. Others in my family have had the food here and enjoyed it. I had the turkey burger and it was delicious! I haven’t eaten an entire burger in one sitting in forever but I did today. Fries were nicely cooked as well. I’ll be back to try other menu items.“
“Jerk chicken was moist, tender, and bursting with flavor and heat. Perfect amount of spice and generous portion size. Platter included rice with some curry drizzled atop and stewed veggies, all delicious. The owner came by to ask me how I liked it, if the spice level was ok, etc attentive but in a genuine way.No frills counter serve but has everything you need i.e great food.“
“We needed to find a place to eat; driving back from New Jersey daughter's softball tournament, my daughter found this place; the kids love rice and beans brown; we stopped in a small business; the food tasted good, looked fresh, and it was perfect my wife, and I had rice with beans and goat meat, and it was great tasting as well.“
“Came into town from Florida visiting family and was recommended I try Sisters for breakfast. The ladies that were working were very sweet and patient. My food had so much flavor that I had to go back a second time. Both time my plate was filled to the edge. I definitely recommend and be prepared to eat.“
“The Russell is a go to for us! The different dishes they offer are sure to suit what you are looking for. I'm basic, and I really enjoy the rice and peas with gravy and the jerk chicken. Prices are very reasonable, too. Highly recommended!“
“I have ordered both in and had food delivered. I love the food. I’m partial to the salmon, shrimp pasta and the j*** chicken pasta. That is also the three things I have tried from them. I first ordered the $5 plates to try them and have not stopped going since. It’s not your typical pasta. I love the combination of flavors and the subtle punch. I get tired of food easily but Ravi’s has definitely added some variety. I have recommended them to my family and friends. Love supporting a small business in our community. Pray prosperity over them.“
“The Flavors Food Truck has taken a leap of faith by setting up near the Simsbury Historical Society every Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. If the thought of tropical Caribbean cuisine interests you, zip on over for some very good j*** chicken, beef or chicken patties, empanadas, plantains, mac and cheese, Spanish rice, a slew of sandwiches, tropical juices and frozen coladas. Your hosts will be Mike and Dee and I'll bet you a nickel they'll be the sweetest people you've meet all month. Mike is the front counter gent, Dee does the cooking and we had such a wonderful time shooting the breeze with them. We split a terrific chicken empanada as a starter (just $4) and it was flaky and juicy and just freaking great. My wife went for a Grilled Chicken Sandwich ($10) -a huge portion of chicken on a roll with tomato and field greens. I went for a Caribbean Platter (meat and Spanish Rice and four Sweet Plantains). I got the large size ($17) with spicy j*** pork. It was awesome! The rice was very good served with Jamaican style peas and olives, the four sweet plantains were excellent, and so was the shredded j*** pork. Half the portion was plenty for me. So, when I consider the quality, the value, and the customer service, it's hard to find any faults at all. Thanks Mike and Dee for a great meal that served nicely to kick off our pre-Hurricane Henri weekend. Please go support these two sweet people and the labor of love they create for your dining pleasure.“
“I am a frequent customer, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is very pleasant to be in. They offer a lot of different services and are very kind and giving. It is a wonderful family run restaurant, they are very active in the community and is a very positive influence to the hartford community! Hands down the best Jamacian food.“
“This restaurant is a hidden gem. Every time I enter the restaurant the gentleman always greets and asked how can I help. The service and the food is excellent it’s fresh and you always get service with a smile. I highly recommend eating here if your looking for some island cuisine.“
“Very good restaurant. Owner is very nice and sweet she's an amazing lady. Nice small spot. Food is always fresh and you get good portions. Food is never greasy. Only thing I wish is they stayed open late at least until 8pm. I'm glad this place was recommended to me now I don't have to drive to the north end for food I barely care for.“
“We walked in for lunch and the energy was amazing!! We sat at the bar with the owner and she was great company!! The food was great we had wings, calamari, oxtail and curry goat!! Good portions and good flavor!! You must try her RUM PUNCH!! Lol IF YOU DARE!!!“
“Jerk chicken and red beans and peas soup and the jerk chicken taste just fabulous. You can definitely taste like it just came off the grill. I LOVE that grilled taste! The rice is good, as for the orange stuff I think is cabbage, that taste really goodas well and the soup was awesome. This was definitely a good find especially at 11:30 at night on a Tuesday. As for the price, $20. Not too bad but overall great spot.“
“Great food, some of the best ox tails I've ever had. Beef patties are ok. Jerk Wings are amazing!! Service is good, you can tell it's someone's mom or grandma in the back cooking because it's hands down delicious. Pricing is reasonable for home cooked food. Ambience if good, love that they painted the building years back and gave it a nicer look. They have both street and onsite parking.“
“Good restaurant very small and the annoying thing is you never know what they have because they don't update the menu board so mostly everything you want they don't have after 4. They to heavy on the grease for the Mac n cheese. Shrimp pasta and curry shrimp is great. Love it“
“The food is great and the people are great too. They make you feel like you are eating at home. The waitress was excellent and friendly very knowledgeable of the food. The owners very welcoming. A great place to have a great meal. We will be back very soon and very often. Highly “
