Bukom is a newly transformed restaurant and café in DC that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. With a complete facelift under new management, it features beautiful artwork and an ambiance enhanced by live jazz music. The service is generally excellent, though there have been occasional reports of being understaffed. The staff is friendly and attentive, making guests feel at home.
The menu includes a variety of delicious West African dishes that have received high praise. The Chicken Suya is highlighted for its tender and flavorful taste, while the jollof rice and spicy pepper soup are also favorites among visitors. Though portions may be smaller, the quality of the food shines through, with many guests recommending the egusi soup with Iyan for first-timers.
Bukom caters especially to homesick Africans, providing a sense of belonging with its comforting food, drinks, and music. Happy hour drinks are available late into the evening, adding to the enjoyable experience. Overall, Bukom is a charming spot that combines great food, live music, and a community-focused vibe, making it a place worth visiting again and again.
