Used to love Comet Ping Pong but things changed a bit at some point - most notably when they stopped having the very delicious tiramisu due to the departure of a pastry chef. However we still went regularly for a while but then the pizzas seemed to be different too - crust got thicker, cheese a bit too liquidy and toppings less generous. Came here the other day with friends who were still fans and also wanted to play ping pong and nothing seemed to be much improved. Basically...
I've only been there once. So at this point, unwilling to judge entire food menu or atmosphere. But seems that likely to be a 4-star review for both. Their pizza-oven pizza is among the best that I've ever had. They have a small performance area, maybe accommodating about 100 people; appears that performances don't start until 10:00 p.m. I had beer and pizza there around noontime. Nice part of town: Upper Connecticut Avenue.
Good pizza and great atmosphere. Little pricy. In addition, i felt that my pizza had way too much crust relative to cheese. That being said, all was delicious. I recommend getting a green pie with sausage, and the gluten free pizza crust is decently good as well.
