“Great spot for a casual dinner! Located in the heart of Union Market, Yasmine is a lively, bustling Mediterranean spot serving up delicious wraps, salads, and platters. I came by for a quick bite on Friday evening, and the Market was packed. We managed to snag a seat at the long table next to Yasmine and split their Friday special, the falafel wrap. The wrap was packed with flavor — it was a bit zingy, a bit spicy, and a bit herby. They had a delightful sauce, but the falafel itself had plenty of seasoning on its own as well. The falafel was perfectly fried, with a nice crispy shell, and it went wonderfully with the fresh, crunchy cucumbers, pickles, and cherry tomatoes.

My dining partner also tried their chicken shawarma wrap, which was also fantastic but slightly more lacking in flavor vs. the falafel wrap. It didn’t have the same sauce that the falafel version had, which made it a smidge less exciting and a tad more dry.

All in all, Yasmine is a great addition to my Union Market rotation! It has a great lively energy and solid food; I can’t wait to come back soon!“

From the moment I walked in, the staff set the tone for an exceptional visit. Warm, friendly, and knowledgeable, they took the time to walk me through the menu, highlighting options and dipping sauces that added an extra layer of excitement to the experience. I opted for the Chicken & Chips, paired with a tangy Dijon mayonnaise dipping sauce and a refreshingly crisp fresh lemonade. While the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, I highly recommend sitting outside — you’ll be right next to a playful waterfall that adds a vibrant, relaxing ambiance to your meal. When my order was ready, I was greeted again by a cheerful team member who confirmed everything and pointed out where to find extra condiments. The aroma alone was mouthwatering. The dish arrived with three perfectly golden pieces of chicken nestled atop a generous bed of thick-cut fries — or “chips,” as the Brits would say. The chicken was a standout: light, crisp, and airy on the outside, giving way to tender, juicy white meat within. The coating was flavorful without overpowering the chicken itself — a masterful balance of texture and taste. The chips were just as impressive — crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy like mashed potatoes on the inside. Each bite was elevated by the accompanying sauces, which were generously portioned and versatile enough to complement both the chicken and the chips. This wasn’t just a meal — it was an experience. Delicious, well-executed comfort food with a gourmet twist, served with top-tier hospitality in a lively setting. The price point was fair and absolutely worth it for the quality of both the food and service. “We had an amazing and beautiful experience at the Firefly restaurant Friday.

We came in earlier around 6:30 it was our anniversary and the service from our host and waiter was exceptional. They seated us at a nice table and immediately served us with cold water and good service was fast and top quality. The waiter was really nice to us and the food especially was delicious.

We ordered the filet mignon with Brussels sprouts and truffle fries and the firefly burger with truffle fries. By far one of the best meals of my life, the steak was tender and cooked perfectly to our desires. The firefly burger patty was tasteful and extremely well balanced.
We particularly loved the truffle Parmesan fries, they were fresh and crunchy, Parmesan flavor at the forefront with a light truffle taste left in your mouth. Delicious and one of the highlights of the meal.
We ordered dessert which was crème brûlée, side note I’m from France, but the crème brûlée was one of the best I’ve ever had crunchy not burnt and the cream light, the restaurant even offered it as a gift for our anniversary.

Overall our experience was perfect and we had nothing bad to remark, thank you to the staff for making our night perfect.

“Gatsby is one of my favorite places to go and recommend in DC, especially for brunch. The food is always good, the atmosphere and environment is even better. On Saturdays, I believe, there’s a DJ. The last time I visited, Marianna was my server and she was amazing! She was proactive about anticipating the needs of me and my party. She also went above and beyond to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. In addition to Marianna, Marcel, one of the managers, was extremely nice and helpful as well. He made rounds to all the tables to see how everything was going. They were also proactive when we mistakenly spilled some water and (I believe) David was promptly on the scene to assist. Truly a top tier experience.
Ordered calamari, shrimp and grits, and tuna melt. Bottomless brunch, tequila sunsets. Would order everything again. Did not make a reservation; can walk in the closer it is to opening.“

“Dropped by for dinner, and it was just a short walk from the Ritz. The food was ok, and the service was spotty. The place was pretty busy with hotel guests. The decor was nice and the lounge was posh. Good to see people out enjoying themselves.“

The humble environment is deceiving: the food and service are high end, but it's a casual and inviting atmosphere. Don't bother with other restaurant if you are staying at the hotel; this is all you need for breakfast and lunch. They do not offer dinner.“

“We made second visit after one last year. I don’t think they get many visitors outside the neighborhood, which is a shame bc the food is amazing and the service is so warm and welcoming. The older woman and younger man who served us is were happy to explain everything and chat.
They are willing to organize the food however you want (individual or family style). My daughter brought in a big Tupperware and they filled it with shira. $60 for 5 plus carry out shira and injera.
Cannot recommend it enough.“

“A concept created during the pandemic, I’m so glad it’s back inside Shilling Canning Company. Available inside and to go, there are six sandwiches on the menu and a weekend breakfast burrito. Every part of the sandwich is created in house except for raising the animals for the meat.Trying every sandwich at their launch party, every single one was delicious, especially with the housemade buns. However, my favorite was the “Chivito” with beef, ham, bacon, egg, and more. The “Ampburger” tastes like a gourmet Big Mac and it’s everything.Their wedge fries are crispy and nice. The homemade chocolate chip cookies are chocolate heavy and always warm. So good!They also sell Mexican Coca-Cola and Sprite in glass bottles.Service is always excellent and street or a paid parking lot are nearby.“

“Was disappointed that almost half of the menu was not available when we visited during lunch hours. Wanted to try the mac n cheese, crab cakes, ribs… none were available. Service was also a bit dismissive. We happened to come on a very hot day and there was no AC - it was just as hot as outside. Still giving 4 stars as the food we did have was good. Especially enjoyed the wings and breakfast wrap.“
