Onkei at Western Market Reviews
I work near this restaurant, so I’m here pretty often. Always like their crunchy spicy tuna, and salmon avocado cilantro rolls. The people who work here are really nice, and today they gave me an extra soup that they had as well as some delicious hot sauce (not wasabi) to dip my sushi in. Recommend if you’re yearning for sushi
great lunch spot! Great food and reasonably priced!
Stopped at Onkei for an early lunch. It was 15 minutes before they opened, but the person at the front kindly offered to serve me anyway. He also gave me a water bottle for free. I ordered the pork ramen and it was pretty good. I think next time I would like to try their sushi. Thank you again for the excellent service.

Onkei, located within Western Market on the GW campus, provides a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant's salmon sashimi and shrimp shumai are highly praised for their quality and taste. Customers especially enjoy the salmon donburi, which comes with miso soup, pickled radish, ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. The food is very filling and offers great portions, often leaving leftovers. The sashimi sushi deluxe is beautifully presented with a nice variety, and the chicken katsu bento box is crispy and plentiful with lots of chicken katsu. Edamame is simple and good, and more reasonably priced than at other places. Although the prices are on the higher side, the fresh and thick cuts of salmon make it a good value. The staff makes the visit smooth, and the atmosphere is nice with various tables nearby and bar seating. The market's clean restrooms add to the overall pleasant experience. While the restaurant may have some wait during busy hours, the ample seating in the food court provides a comfortable setting. The location is convenient and inside a "mall," with simple but clean surroundings. The chef, known for his skill, is willing to prepare special requests like torched salmon. Accessibility is available via elevators and open space, although the door is not ADA friendly.
