This was a VERY disappointing experience. We traveled an hour to take our son to The Avenue for his birthday . We had a reservation through Open Table at 1pm. I had touched base w the restaurant about the parking situation and they had responded. When we arrived, there was a note on the door saying they opened at 3pm. I do not know how this happens but we obviously had to scramble to find a new spot for our son's birthday lunch. I reached out to the restaurant and heard nothing.

I have been so impressed by the management, servers, food, and options at The Avenue that I had to write a review. A group of friends from the neighborhood wanted to gather at a local spot for informal drinks and a meal. We were offered the use of The Avenue's basement, which is a chill lounge where you can have a full meal at the tables or relax in bucket chairs with drinks. We loved the whole experience of it -- the staff were super nice and attentive, the food was great, the drinks were well-made, and the atmosphere was perfect. We went back again recently, and were similarly blown away. This is now our "go to" spot. The Avenue is the perfect spot for informal gatherings where you'll feel at home, yet be out of your house...

I really liked coming to the Avenue but the prices they are charging are crazy high for the food they serve. A good reason I will not be back for a while. My friend and I went recently since it has been a little while. My friend got a couple of Tequila soda's and they gave them casamigos (which is not rail and typically just saying tequila they are supposed to do rail if unspecified), each glass was $13. I got a couple regular glasses of wine myself. We shared 8 wings and a small creme brulee sized crab dip. The total came out to $91 (not including tip).I have had better quality food for less, the food isnt bad but not worth the price. The owner should re think lowering his prices.Otherwise the atmosphere is nice and a cozy little hangout.

positives: fair food and convenient neighborhood locationnegatives: If ordering for takeout, you can not order online. Also, the menu on the website inaccurately lists prices (upon pick up I was charged more than expected). Additionally, there is a take-out fee (seriously?). recommendations: Only eat in if you want a beer and fair food and want to watch a game. Don't order takeout until they get their act together. They need accurate online pricing, and the ability to order online without calling the restaurant. And seriously, remove the take-out fee. That's as ridiculous and insulting as service fees.

The food is always either really good or seem to be carelessly made and rarely in between. More times than not it’s really good. However this review is motivated from one of the bad days. Pictures included are of my “medium rare” burger and it said it specifically on the recipe as well. How ever it looks like it’s closer to raw than medium rare.

No happy hour anymore? Overpriced menu will leave this place sunk soon like so many other ventures in the upper NW Connecticut Ave area.

The food and service were very good. We did not have much time, so the waitress made sure that we got our drinks and our food soon enough that we could eat them at a leisurely pace. We were very pleased.

The Avenue but it has been closed by the DC government (for nonpayment of taxes I believe). I hope they re-open because it’s always been a nice place, a friendly neighborhood bar and restaurant.

Neighborhood watering hole with a family friendly twist. One of our favorites in Chevy Chase. A great atmosphere with good food and drinks.

I wanted to take a minute to thank KAT and the entire night team at The Avenue for making last night a breeze!! My daughter had her 1st book launch at Politics & Prose (Finch House, by Ciera Burch). We made reservations for 20 people at after 5:30pm for 8:30pm and they never made us feel like we were a problem! Never questioned the time we'd enter or what it was for, and that was just over the phone.Upon arrival we were prepared for... there was a large private table for us in the lower living room that was PERFECT and we felt like we had a private room.. I couldn't tell you then how happy that made me! THANK YOU!Guys- thank you for making sure we had water, drinks, appetizers timely and while all these things may be "basic" to some, in an industry where thank yous are fleeting and service is lacking, im thankful!Kat, you're amazing. You're professional! And you and your team of guys handled 2 handfuls of checks and my daughter's special day TERRIFICALLY.THANK YOU!L

Unfortunately, our visit to the restaurant was not as expected at all. Drinks had to be sent back. Our food orders were incomplete. The server and the food runner were not in sync as to what dressings could be offered. But it was a lovely day to sit outside, between the flies that would not move away, and then an onslaught of bees, we left much earlier than we would normally have done.

Food and atmosphere are awesome at this family owned restaurant. One of the best burgers I've had and my mom loved the grilled cheese.

I am biased, as my brother works at The Avenue. That said, for the past two months, my wife and I (a mix of family and friends have joined us) have eaten at The Avenue on Monday nights. 1/2 price burgers! The burgers are delicious! Two patties high, smothered with cheese and other deliciousness. It is worth the visit. I did not, nor will l, be compensated for this posting.
