The food was pretty good. We went in there with a big party and asked them if they could split up the checks when we arrived. We were told that it would be fine. Fast forward to the end, they tried to give us one huge check. It then took over an hour to sort it out. The manager was reluctant to work with us. We never would have eaten there if they said they could split up the checks for the beginning.Bottom line. The food is pretty good. The prices are a little high.
Umaya is well located for visits to the American Art and National Portrait Gallery Museums nearby and the Gallery Place Metro stop. The Japanese menu is extensive and includes Appetisers, Sushi, Donburi, Noodle, and Ramen dishes. We split a Mango Tango Sushi as a starter. Despite its prime location and spacious dining area, its cuisine could have been better. Our orders of noodle soups, sushi, rolls, and yakitori were average, and the service was mediocre.
