“We stopped at Vanderwende’s and loved it! The ice cream was rich and creamy — I had cookies & cream and cupcake in a cup, while my partner enjoyed a waffle cone with mint chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie dough. The waffle cone was sturdy and didn’t fall apart or drip from the bottom or sides, and both flavors were perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. The scoop sizes were generous and satisfying.

What makes this place extra special is the “farm to scoop” — it’s a local gem with that authentic charm. Parking is a bit limited, and I can imagine it gets busy in the summer, but it’s worth it. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we really enjoyed the lovely outdoor seating area.

“Weekends from end of April until about Labor Day, they sell some of the best BBQ chicken you can find anywhere as a fundraiser. I believe the hours are 8 am until they are sold out - usually 1 or 2 pm. The fire department itself, like nearly all fire departments in Delaware, is a volunteer organization. Our fine people serve the community, protecting the town and outlying areas of Greenwood Delaware.”

“Pretty good food, excellent service and good atmosphere. I found the pasta sauce on my dish to be decent, and the chicken soup was okay though the broth was lacking a little bit of flavor. Service was absolutely top notch. So while I'm not sure that I'll be back, I'm still giving it five stars.”

“Went for brunch, sat in the heated, enclosed outdoor area and had a delicious breakfast quesadilla with a side of sausage gravy. Got a spicy bloody Mary that was tasty. Then moved to the bar and had Jordan as our bartender, he was friendly and made yummy drinks. I highly recommend the berry lemon fizz.They also sell bottles of what they distill, just ask what's available! Highly recommend checking them out.”

“I was just there last night for Dinner with my Father, for a delayed Father's Day Dinner. While there we saw someone that we agree was Gorgeous; well, that was his term, but she was beautiful and out of place working there. She was the/a Hostess 6/19/25 sometime between 3:30p-4:30p. I wanted to talk to her, but the opportunity wasn't there. I can't forget to mention our Waitress though, she was a pleasure and made the experience an excellent one. “We enjoy eating at the Harrington, De Arby's. The staff are all polite and friendly. The manager David does an awesome job taking care of the facility, staff and especially the customers. I recommend Arby's to anyone who wants a good meal in a nice place.”
