Slaughterhouse Seafood Restaurant and Fish Market is a wonderfully run, cozy place in Cedar Key. The owners and staff are super friendly, hospitable, and accommodating. The food is consistently outstanding, made to order, and always hot, fresh, and delicious. Portions are huge. Standout dishes include the grouper, which is superb and practically melts in the mouth, whether broiled or fried. The seafood hoagie, shrimp, and all you can eat shrimp are also perfect. Sides like the Hush Puppies are the best ever, and the cheese grits made with real cheese are a top choice. The corn chowder and corn/clam chowder are very good. The attached fish market sells fresh local seafood like grouper and shrimp. It is a must-stop for a fresh seafood meal, with both indoor and outdoor seating available.
