“This review honestly has nothing to do with the food because the food is VERY good. I’ve been here twice now and both times the food was flavorful, fresh, cooked to order, and consistent. I really wanted to keep supporting this place.

What turned me off was the experience with the guy at the counter during my last visit. He made a sly remark assuming I wasn’t Haitian. I let him continue thinking that because I wanted to see where the interaction was going. My first two visits were with a female employee, and everything was pleasant, so this immediately rubbed me the wrong way.

After I paid and was waiting for my food, I happened to look back at the menu before leaving and realized he charged me $5 more than what my order should’ve cost. I was in a rush and didn’t have time to stop and argue about it, but I definitely noticed.

I know Haitian culture VERY well. I also know that overcharging people who are assumed to be tourists or people who don’t speak Creole is unfortunately not some rare thing. So this felt intentional to me.

That’s what makes this so disappointing because the food is honestly so good. But no food is good enough for dishonesty. I wish the restaurant all the best because people’s livelihoods depend on these businesses doing well, but that guy at the counter is going to drive customers away.“

“The griot was slightly overcooked, but the flavor was still on point—well-seasoned and satisfying. The real standout was the diri djon djon: rich, earthy, and cooked perfectly, easily the star of the plate. The plantains were done right too a great complement to the meal. Overall, even with the griot being a little over, the flavors carried the dish and made it a solid, enjoyable experience.“

““Alabon!” is Creole for “God! It’s good!” And whether or not you speak the language that food IS very good! My whole family enjoys the meals day in day out. I never ate any dish in that restaurant that was not delightful. The patties are definitely the best in town. A great eating experience by all accounts.“
