My son loves bread pudding, so I wanted to have that as one of the desserts at his rehearsal dinner. I am not from this area, so it took a bit of research but I had seen someone post that Julie’s had a delicious bread pudding. I went for breakfast this morning - specifically for the French toast and was NOT disappointed! Jan met me with a smile at the register and after paying, she asked if there was anything specifically I wanted from the buffet line. I told her I came for the French toast and within just a few minutes, the most perfect slices of French toast were brought out - FRESH! Julie and her team catered a dinner event for us and she did not disappoint. She is prompt, friendly, affordable and knows how to make a mean bread pudding. Ask her for her cajun inspired menu and you won’t be disappointed! Thank you, Julie!

Julie's Southern Joy Homestyle offers home cooked, yummy food located inside the American Legion. Guests do not have to be a member to enter; just ring the buzzer. The setup can be confusing, as it is no longer a buffet—guests walk in to the back right and order under the Budweiser sign. Despite this, packed out parking lots speak for themselves. The food is all good, with favorites including fried chicken and perfect, fresh French toast served for Saturday all you can eat breakfast. None of the food needed additional seasoning, and it was all hot and delicious. The bread pudding is also a standout, described as delicious and the best bread pudding some have ever tasted. The folks there are very nice, hospitable, and sweet. Limited choices are available, but everything is cooked fresh. The potato salad tasted like store bought, but hot foods all tasted home cooked. Overall, a very friendly group and a great place for home cooking.
