“Amazing creations from our favorite, Chef Bo! The menu and atmosphere don't disappoint. Bo, Shannon ,and staff are awesome. So happy to have a location in Brevard that offers Hog Fish, which is hard to find. The menu has a wide variety and the cocktails are on point. This will be on our regular list of go-to places!“

“Terra Craft Sandwiches 231 W. Hibiscus Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32901 5 Stars Terra Craft Sandwiches is a relatively new fast-casual sandwich shop in Melbourne. The counter help today was Andrea. Andrea was very helpful and extremely knowledgeable when it came to the menu. I put in an order for a Brisket, a Ribeye and one Chicken Salad sandwich. Taking in the environs, I snapped a few pictures and before too long, our order was up. Heading back to a table, I took some pics and commenced dining. One bite into the Brisket sandwich and I knew that apparently someone finally got the HINT! The Brisket was slow-cooked to a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The bread was freshly made, thickly sliced, warm, and tasty. However, the stars of this show were the root beer sage BBQ sauce and house-made pickles. That's right. They make their own pickles in the back! Forcing myself to move on, I grabbed the Ribeye sandwich and stuffed it in my pie hole. Made of shaved ribeye, white cheddar, braised scallions, chimichurri aioli, refried bean fondue (I didn't even know there was such a thing) and shoestring taters, this was to die for. I had to double-check on my phone to ensure I was still in Brevard County. Yep. I was. Unbelievable. Reaching for the last sammich to be tested, I ripped into the Chicken Salad sandwich like there was no tomorrow. This was certainly a Chicken Salad sandwich like I have never had before. With slow-roasted Cabernet grapes, shoestring sweet potatoes and roasted chicken breast on a flaky flatbread, this had to be the best Chicken Salad sandwich ever concocted. As I have said repeatedly, the engineers have doomed this county when it comes to good food. That said, as I was dining, in walked Glenn. I immediately pegged him as an engineer. New Balance running shoes and an overly tucked-in shirt were my first clues. All he needed was a pocket protector and a Honda Accord. Anyway, I asked him why an engineer would eat here. He replied, “Because the food is outstanding. The price is a tad high but worth it.” Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe engineers will fork out some moola for quality food. All this food is made on-site by a chef with mad skills, and boy, oh boy, does it taste like it. Hallelujah, Michelin! We finally have great food in Brevard!! The Big Boy says, “If you don't like this food, I will personally come over to your place and hammer you with a pillowcase full of pocket protectors and slide rules.”“

“Great service considering it was right after the Turtle 5k. Only issue I had was my Mahi was overcooked. I didn't mind raw spinach, although when I have had spinach in a Benedict, it's usually sautéed. Eggs were poached perfectly and hollandaise was ok. Nobody makes hollandaise as good as my husband did. Nobody.“

“Carmen's Restaurant and Catering 2280 Harris Ave NE Palm Bay, FL 32905 4 Stars After what appeared to be a mistake in my last Jamaican joint review (whoa, that has a few connotations), I thought I was being punished by immediately being sent to another one by my random name generator. After smacking it on the side a few times and shaking it, I found it to be working correctly, so I proceeded to Carmen's Restaurant and Catering in Palm Bay, FL. What a world of difference! Carmen is the proprietor and a one-woman show and boyo, let me tell ya, she sure shines. I found Carmen's menu to be a joy to behold, as eclectic as my vinyl collection. As such, I decided to go in a different direction today and steered away from the traditional Jamaican fare such as Jerk Chicken and Curried Goat and went with an order of Carmen's Fried Chicken with sides of rice, beans and potato salad along with an order of her Bang Bang Fried Shrimp Tacos (the same name as the drek at the horrid Bonefish Grill) with fries. As Carmen got to work on my eats, I took in the interior. I found it to be open, welcoming, bright, and cheery, not unlike the owner! Carmen was out in no time with my foodstuffs. Taking a few before pictures, I got to work. I turned my attention and palate to the Fried Chicken. The first thing I noticed was the crunch of the coating. If you look at the picture I've attached, you can see what I mean. That coating was slathered on without care for conservation. It wasn't too much, it was just enough. The chicken, blanketed in a tender, juicy, succulent coating, tasted superb. The rice and beans were well-cooked and seasoned with love. The potato salad, like everything else, I assume was made by Carmen and if your Grandmother makes a better potato salad, I will eat these words! I can't speak for you, but when I hear or read the words, Bang Bang, I immediately think of three things. First, playing cops and robbers as a child and “shooting” the bad guy with my finger gun while shouting, “Bang! Bang!” The second is the Bollywood bad remake of a worse film, “Bang Bang!” The third thing I think of is Chinese Street Chicken. None of this has anything to do with Carmen's Bang Bang Fried Shrimp Tacos, other than the Bang Bang sauce is loosely based on the Chinese Street Chicken tossing sauce. Carmen's Bang Bang sauce was a mixture of mayo, spicy stuff and it was mahvalous, dahling! The shrimp were coated with the same love and care as the chicken and were just as tender and juicy. Got Dayum! Carmen knows her way around a kitchen. I can only assume these are her recipes as well. She should open a restaurant and share this with...oh, wait. Never mind. With this meal and the success of the Fried Chicken at Cajun Soul, my hopes have been raised considerably. The Big Boy says, “If you want good eats served with love and a friendly smile, visit Carmen. Tell her the Big Boy sent ya (it's safe this time)!”“

“Not as good as Fogo De Chao or Texas De Brazil. Ordered an extra dry vodka martini up with olives that came dirty without asking for it to be. Salad bar not as rich and good looking as in other similar restaurants . Meat is over cooked at most times. The gauchos not asking how one wants their portion cooked and just serving as they please. Requested lamb chops and only received after the 3rd request (and 25 minutes), as they kept serving them to the wrong table. The manager was polite and helpful. That restaurant is lucky to have him as he makes the experience much more enjoyable in spite of the challenges. Area serves are nice and polite. Price is similar to the other 2 restaurants mentioned but the overall experience doesn't come close to it. There's definitely room for improvement.“

“Jason's Deli 1509 W. New Haven Ave West Melbourne, FL 32904 3.5 Stars (Chain restaurant review) With 250 locations spread across 28 States, I was bound to land in one eventually. Jason's Deli was founded in 1976 By Joe Tortice, Jr. in Beaumont TX. The original location at 112 Gateway St. in Beaumont is still in operation. Named after Joe's eldest son, Jay, the menu includes basic deli fare, with the added plus of being free from MSG, high-fructose corn syrup, dyes, colors, and artificial flavors; however, I'm guessing the free ice cream station is the biggest draw for most customers. Finding my way to their West Melbourne location on W. New Haven Ave. I sauntered in for what I hoped were good old-fashioned Deli victuals. Tyson is our service assistant today, and this guy is fantastic. He is a real throwback to the service received in the 60s,70s and 80s. I asked Tyson for their take on the deli standard of a Rueben, Ruben The Great. Packed with one-half pound of hot corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, 1000 Island dressing, and lovingly packed between two slices of NEW Marbled Rye bread, this was certainly reminiscent of the Carnegie Jewish Deli in New York City. Is this gourmet? Not by a long shot. Is this going to garner any culinary awards? Most likely no. Regardless, it is one heck of a sandwich. On the way out, I noticed a peculiar site of the pre-COVID landscape: a salad bar. Yep, they have a salad bar. I thought they went out with COVID and the germ-a-phobe/allergy crowd. Nope. There is one right here in West Melbourne. It doesn't appear to have the frozen bacon flavored bits of yore, but rather what appears to be fresh ingredients (unheard of). Had I known, I would certainly have ordered it. The Big Boy says, “If you get a lunch break at work, swing by and hit the bar. The salad bar, that is, and don't forget Rueben the Great!”“

“Taco City 2955 S Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 4 Stars Just reading my random name generator caused my senses to vellicate just a bit as I was staying beachside for this meal. Blinking benignly up at me was the name of a restaurant that had been in the same location for over 40 years. At this point, Taco City has to be a local landmark and they must be doing something right. They also have an express counter at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, though that doesn't necessarily mean anything as servicemen and women like anything that isn't an MRE. As I was not, nor have I ever been in the Air Force (thank you to those that have been in any branch of our Armed Forces), I hooked a Louie just shy of the Cape and pulled into “civie” Taco City. I was greeted warmly upon entering and taken almost immediately to a table. Glancing at the menu, I noticed that it was much more diversified than your average Tex-Mex cantina. My server soon approached, introduced himself as Sequoia and asked if I was ready to order. I noticed that Sequoia was also the manager or at least the manager on duty. I found him to be very outgoing and sagacious while unreservedly answering all my questions. You didn't think I just went in and ordered blindly, did you? Do you? If not, I would suggest you start. The most important being, is this dish assembled or made? I asked Sequoia for an order of Chings or Chongs and Dos Hard Tacos (chicken). I sat back and soaked up the fantastic atmosphere of the place and quicker'n a cat on a hot tin roof, Sequoia returned with my food. If it tasted half as good as the aromas running ahead, I knew I was in for some decent chow. Snapping the prerequisite pictures, I grabbed my tools of epicurean destruction and commenced to “reviewing.” First up was my order of Chings or Chongs. This looked so interesting on the menu that I had to order it, and I was not disappointed. Consisting of shredded chicken fried in a large flour tortilla served along with freshly shredded iceberg, hand chopped tomatoes, Mexican cheese and black olives this dish was as delicious as it was unique. The chicken was tender, juicy and full-flavored. Turning my attention toward the Hard Tacos was not as easy as one might think, but I had a job to do. Grabbing a taco in my mitt, I took a good-sized bite and was delighted. This was also pleasant on the palate. Everything was fresh and one taste tells you it was made, not assembled in the kitchen. Well done, kitchen miens. Is Taco City going to win a James Beard award? Absolutely not. However, they aren't aiming for that either. What they are aiming for is what they provide and that is a fun, interesting menu with a great deal of heterogeneity in the crowded Tex-Mex field. This place is well run and the food is above average. The Big Boy says, “If you're looking for some Tex-Mex grub with a jovial atmosphere and decent food, try Taco City. I'm guessin' they will be here another 40 years.” If you are in or have been in the Air Force and have eaten at their Express cafe, please let me know what you think/thought of it.“

“Since Piesanos opened I have loved occasionally ordering pizza from there. It tastes great and my family loves it. On October 25. We ordered a pizza from there and they accidentally made the initial pizza incorrectly. They proceeded to make another one and allowed me to take both pizzas home. When the new correct pizza was completed as I was leaving the restaurant I dropped the new pizza. I was mortified and felt terrible because they just made the new pizza for us and I totally messed it up. They graciously began to prepare another new pizza. I didn’t come prepared to pay for the pizza since it was ordered online and they were not expecting any payment. I did have a some cash and offered it as a tip. To my surprise the lady at the counter wouldn’t take it no matter how much I insisted. This experience was a true testament to the spectacular customer service you will get at Piesanos. I don’t leave reviews very often, but I believe they deserve praise how on awesome they are. The food is always wonderful, but it makes the experience so much better when the people are wonderful too! Ever looking for a place to order pizza I will always recommend Piesanos.“
