The Elbow

I found it funny that I read about "The Elbow" being a historic downtown must do in a Southern Living magazine- here in Jacksonville. What's the elbow? Or better yet- where? I asked John and he was just as puzzled- google it is. Turns out we have frequented the area known as the elbow over the years for Art Walk, eating out, hitting up bars and breweries and even a distillery. The Florida Theater is on that list too. When visitors come from out of town, they often head to the dissapointing Landing, on some poor advice, looking for places to dine and nightlife. True locals to downtown Jacksonville know that "The Elbow" is really where it is at. The Elbow is a section of downtown where you can almost always find free street parking after 6 p.m. Among my favorite places to hang out is Marks for the best happy hour and greatest bartenders in town. The Elbow is the collective name for the bars, restaurants, art galleries, event spaces, shops and clubs in the Urban Core. You know....forming the shape of an elbow!
