I felt compelled to write this because exceptional service and exceptional food deserve to be recognized.
My family and I have been vacationing in St. Pete Beach for the past six years, and one tradition we never miss is a visit to Shrimpy's. What's remarkable is that every single year we come back, the food somehow gets even better. Most restaurants struggle to maintain consistency over time, but Shrimpy's continues to raise the bar year after year.
From the moment we walked through the door until the moment we left, everything was absolutely top-notch. Our server, Jake, was outstanding. He was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table. Great servers can make a meal memorable, and Jake certainly did that.
Now let's talk about the food.
I have eaten seafood all over Florida and throughout the country, and I can honestly say that Shrimpy's serves some of the finest Cajun-style seafood I have ever had. Every dish was cooked to perfection, seasoned flawlessly, and bursting with flavor. The freshness of the seafood was obvious from the first bite, and the chefs clearly take tremendous pride in what they do.
What impressed me most was that nothing felt rushed, pre-made, or ordinary. Every plate that came to our table looked incredible and tasted even better. It's rare to find a restaurant where both the kitchen and the front-of-house staff perform at such a high level, but Shrimpy's has mastered both.
John John, you have built something special. The fact that my family has returned for six straight years—and that we leave more impressed each time than the year before—says everything that needs to be said. Outstanding servers, phenomenal chefs, a welcoming atmosphere, and food that keeps people talking long after they leave.
In my opinion, this isn't just the best seafood restaurant on St. Pete Beach—it's the best Cajun seafood restaurant I've ever experienced anywhere.
If you're looking for authentic Cajun seafood done right, stop searching and go to Shrimpy's. Five stars isn't enough.
We'll absolutely be back next year, just like we've been for the last six years.
And one final piece of advice for anyone reading this review: save room for the bread pudding. Trust me. Just when you think the meal can't get any better, the bread pudding shows up and delivers the perfect ending to an already unforgettable meal.

“I have been a vegetarian since approximately 1968. It was not easy to eat out nor at other peoples houses without the constant questioning, “what’s in this?” Any meat in this? Over the years, it was more acceptable and I could find one or two dishes in every menu. Certainly there are more dishes and restaurants now. But I have been hesitant with many because I don’t want to eat something made from tofu or seitan and call it a burger or meat dish. So, I highly recommend that you eat at House of Vegano with fresh food, creative and incredible tastes, amazing choices and friendly staff that makes you feel like you are home.
