I bought a pound of scallops yesterday and they weren't real scallops. As a chef for 40 years, I can assure you I know the difference and although they looked like scallops in the display case, when I got them home the first tell was there was no mussel on any of them. When cooked they were all the same size, were rubbery and didn't cut like scallops or taste like scallops.
It's sad that a seafood business would act this way.
