Ray's Hometown Bar Miami Reviews
Attentive service, flavorful dining experience with low lit charming ambiance. Did not disappoint after a long day of travel. Thank You!
My grandfather survived the Cuban Missile Crisis, three marriages, and a Category 4 hurricane by keeping his expectations ruthlessly low.
He would have wept at Ray's Hometown Bar.
We ordered two mojitos. The bartender — moving with the urgency of a manatee on Xanax — produced two glasses of what I can only describe as mint-adjacent sugar water with a rum rumor floating through it.
Twenty-five dollars. Each.

Ray's Hometown Bar in Miami Beach is a special spot with a chill dive bar vibe. The drinks are creative, ice cold, and delicious, with reasonably priced cocktails. A bartender made an off-the-menu cucumber/mint/gin drink. There is a pool table in the back. They serve buckets of beer, which is great for times with friends or if you're by the pool. The burgers and sandwiches off the menu are awesome too.
On beautiful temperate days it's nice to sit outside. When it's too hot, the inside has AC on blast. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the people are very friendly.
The space also hosted Mariah Carey's Hometown Bar and Mariah Carey's Christmas experience. It was nicely decorated and had an upstairs area which was almost like a museum, with so many displays and photo opportunities. Buying a ticket in advance reserved your seat and came with a complementary festive-themed drink.
The bar was much smaller size than expected, especially for having to pay such a disconcordant cover just to enter the space. The menu was concise yet varied for the Christmas theme. Entrées do not come with fries or sides and are sold separately. The drinks (espresso Martini and Hot Chocolate cocktail!) were delicious, and the mushroom sandwich was fantastic.
It is a charming place in a gorgeous boutique hotel with effective holiday decor. The staff did their best, though they constantly looked overwhelmed and wait times did drag on. It is in a walkable, easily accessible, multi-modal area with outdoor seating on a beautiful streetscape. In a crowded field of possibilities, this one stands out in Miami Beach.
