I had the chance to go to Johnston's twice during a recent visit to Monticello, and the food was incredible! I almost have to recommend going on a Friday, as that is seafood day and the fried gulf shrimp I had were great, and a really big portion! I say almost because the brisket I had the next day was absolutely as good, and the ribs were wonderful, both complimenting the house-made barbecue sauces really well. The burnt ends were delicious. My food came out cold and I didn"t send it back. Big mistake. By the time I passed by the court house I was throwing up. Food did not agree with my tummy. I will continue to buy sausage from them but I'll never ever eat at the restaurant

I ate there again today, the hamburger steak with gravy was one of the best ones I've ever had! The cabbage was great as well, the potato aggrautin was also good. I just couldn't eat it all. I ate more than I have in several days. The only thing that would have made the hamburger steak with gravy better would've been a crisp but cooked onion! Oh, and their sweet tee is great too!
