I love coming in town for the oysters cause everything about it is just better. The atmosphere is very chill since people just want to come in for lunch and relax. The staff is entertaining and nice. We had a good conversation about where the oysters are now coming from since the hurricane affected Appalachiacola; and he tried to hype my wife up to get two shells and make a pair of earrings. If you like oysters as much as I do, give this place a try if you're down for a drive

Gene's has been in business for many years and recently changed hands in ownership. We finally had an opportunity to have lunch there today. I had the fresh mullet basket and my husband the fried oyster basket. We both ordered cheese grits and fried okra for our 2 sides. Everything was good, although our grits did not appear to have cheese in them (?). I also ordered a side of mullet roe and tried it. It was not my favorite, it was so big, but now I can say I've tried it....read full review
