“Such good food! A must when we're in KW. You know you're in a good place when you're the only person they don't know by name! Great traditional Cuban food.”
“It was hard to find initially, didn't realize it is a food truck with a couple of picnic tables, tucked under a tree. They cook everything to order so service is a little slow, and the price seems a bit exorbitant (welcome to the Keys!) until the food comes. Both of our burritos were HUGE and very tasty. Would eat there again for sure. They have an extensive breakfast menu, so I might try that.”
“First off I would like to comment on how clean this place was, the ambiance was great. Ice cream was delicious and the lady working was super kind. I will definitely be back to this place!”
“I stopped for a drink while waiting for my family to arrive. A nice little spot on the marina. I sat at the bar and the bartender was great. The fish dip was good.Parking: Parking can be difficult if they are busy.”
“Still a fantastic bakery and sandwich shop with me menu items. To-die-for baguettes, croissants, cakes and other baked goods. Excellent sandwiches and crepes. Their cakes, especially their chocolate cakes, are really amazingly good.Vegetarian options: Veggie quiche is really good. Caprese puff pastry too.”
“Just GO. Support this place which has been open and closed at various times as they’ve tried to get established. Honestly? It’s a great little dockside spot with a fun happy hour menu….. totally worth hunting up this Stock Island gem. We’ll be back!!!!”
“While this place does not get the same buzz as Cuban Coffee Queen (which I get it - it's an iconic Key West establishment) - I think Great Lakes at Perry is the best coffee shop on the island. Great coffee, excellent decor and atmosphere. I mean being able to enjoy your coffee and pastry while sitting outside with super yachts next door - it's fantastic. And the staff are also great, very nice.”
“Best dishes during our stay - New York Strip Steak ?, Dark Chocolate Tres Leche, Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée, Almond Milk & Chia Seed Pudding. However, avoid the Toasted Coconut-Key Lime Bread (so dry), Crispy Chicken Cheddar Waffle (spicy with mediocre flavor). Service here is great. ? View of the water is nice (room views are better ).”
“ABSOLUTELY ? The most INCREDIBLE DINNING EXPERIENCE ❤️❤️❤️❤️The tasting menu is EXTRAORDINARY.Beautiful parings of AMAZING UNIQUE FOOD!The Chief and his sous chiefs are food artists. The wait staff is REMARKABLE ❤️ their engaging, Fun and work as a team. Also very knowledgeable. As they describe the menu your mouth will water with EXCITEMENT❤️ ”
“The food is awesome. We had octopus and calamari as a starter which was already filling. As a main course, filet mignon and fettucine. Both super tasty and great quality. Last but not least, the key lime tart. But there was absolutely nothing to complain about. We decided to make a reservation at very short notice and only got a seat at the counter, but it was super comfortable. Sylvia our bar tender was super super friendly and served excellently. A more than successful evening with an excellent meal. Danger! Very modern and not Key West style. If you're looking for something like that, you shouldn't go here, but if you're looking for great quality, this is the place for you.”
“Cool place w excellent food! We had the Beef Stroganoff & it was delicious. Our friend had the Yellow Tail & he said it was amazing. Don"t skip dessert!Waiter was attentive & had a nice visit w the owner. Put this down as a must try on your trip to Key West!”
“Incredible dining experience! Service was on point, thanks to our server, Wilson. We ordered 3 appetizers, 2 entrees and 3 desserts. Everything was paced out perfectly. The food was phenomenal! Crab “cakes”, scallops (with possibly the best pork belly I’ve had), and bisque to start. Miso glazed grouper and veal chop for entree’s and a mix of desserts. Everything was remarkable. My compliments to Chef Laurence.”
“We used to be patrons of Kaya’s at their former location, and miss them immensely. Our first trip to their KW location and we are happy to see the same faces in charge (after years, no less) with the same level of energy and openness, and also very happy to find the quality of the food has been retained and even refined. Excellent cuisine and a good value, and their new location has several different spaces from a bar to outside courtyards so you can find an ambiance that suits you. Excellent happy hour also available 4-6 I believe, with half price apps and drinks. We had their famous (to us) jerk wings and they are awesome, and coconut shrimp were also meaty and tasty and so much flavor added by way of a tasty side sauce. We shared fish tacos as the main and they were excellent, both the fish and the accompaniments in the taco. We never get dessert but sprung for an ice cream pie called the Hulu Girl, it disappeared in a quiet frenzy (didn’t want the ice cream to melt!). Drinks were reasonable and very varied. Highly recommend and I hope we can still get a seat next time! We went on a very windy weekday at around 5:30. Kudos Kaya Island Eats, so happy for you!”
“We stopped by for an early morning coffee and while there was a small lineup, it moved very quickly. Service was friendly and efficient, coffee was hot and delicious! We didn't grab any food but there were breakfast/lunch sandwiches and it looked good! Lineup of people that early in the morning tells you it's a great place!”
“Really great donuts. The line was out the door but it went quickly and we got our half dozen within 15 minutes. I tried the key lime and the passion fruit and while I liked both I loved the passion fruit. It was so good! Honestly they have so many great flavors it was hard choosing. Definitely delicious. The one part that a few in my party commented on was the dough was a little odd. You could definitely taste the oil it was made in. Overall, if you are craving a donut it's worth trying once. However, it's very expensive for what it is.”
“We went for lunch. I had the Swiss cheese burger. It was delicious. The atmosphere was amazing. But the star of the show was AARON our server! He was laid back and easy to talk to. He was knowledgeable about the food and answered our questions. He even managed to quiet some noisy work that was getting in the way of our ordering! Overall, a lovely experience.”
“Tried the lobster roll. It was fabulous, but it was one slice of buttered toasted bread with Lobster meat on it, rolled up like a hot dog. The taste was amazing, but so small for $32. Just a very expensive snack. I feel it was way too overpriced.”
“Nice little place for breakfast , everything is home made and organic and absolutely delicious. service was amazing and the vibes inside were too . loved this lovely breakfast ”
“Our breakfast at your restaurant was simply delightful! The dishes were not only delicious, but also beautifully presented. And the waitress Sarah, with her hospitality and attention, made our meal even more enjoyable.”
“Our absolute favorite sub, sandwich, and gourmet cupcake place in Key West.. Hands down!! This local spot is a must visit and prepare your HUNGER because these massive subs are sure to fill you up! ALSO MUST save room for a mouth watering cupcake afterwards! As you can see from the pictures we visit this spot as our first, last, and in between our many trips to KW. We order and take these on our boat and beach trips and even fly them home to our kids per their request. We have tried every single sub in this place and a hard time deciding on a Favorite. I personally am a pastrami snob and have to order that sandwich at least once and my husband is obsessed with the Balboa their signature sub! You really cannot go wrong. The owners are two of the most hard working individuals and make sure your stomach is satisfied as well as your sweet tooth. They strive for perfection when it comes to an amazing lunch spot and never disappoint. If you have one day in KW on a cruise stop or spending some quality time checking out the island on vacation or boat outing DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STOP HERE!!!!”
“Such places are called democratic - simple tables, a simple menu of cocktails, beer and snacks to go with it.The tables are quite crowded - that's why I'm only giving them a four. But the waves are splashing nearby. Young but polite, efficient waiters. I was served by Aubrey M., who looked like a schoolgirl. Disputed order delivery, dirty plates on the table do not linger. It doesn’t push you with directions and recommendations - I had a pleasant time sitting by the ocean in the morning with a beer and snacks.I ordered beer and conch friters - they were not overcooked, served hot and juicy. This is a coastal cafe and I rate it exactly as a coastal cafe.I liked it here and will come back here again.Ps: I'm backOn my second run, I drank Sunset Tequila and ate tuna poke cups. The drink is soft - it doesn't hurt your brain. Long drink.Tuna initially raised concerns - it is a fish of cold waters and for a coastal cafe, getting tuna with good eyes and gills and cutting it is expensive. However, the fears were in vain - the tuna, although clearly frozen upon delivery (after all, the tropics, not Alaska), was good. No urges. The tuna sauce is unexpectedly balanced for a cafe - the taste of mayonnaise is not felt at all and perfectly complements the appetizer. The cups are naturally banana cups, not overcooked - I actually liked them and went great with the cocktail. It was a great morning: a view of the emerald ocean at my feet, a soft cocktail (beer if desired), and wonderful snacks to go with it at an affordable price by the standards of this island. It's totally worth it.I recommend.”
“Had to come back a second day on my visit, food was fabulous with many of my favorite choices. Staff is pleasantly friendly with good vibes and offering friendly advice. I’ll definitely be back on my next visit. Recommend giving it a try you’ll enjoy!Vegetarian options: Definitely options available”
“I have been wanting to try this place out. Got the brisket, mac & cheese, and cornbread. Everything was delicious! Did not disappoint! The views are beautiful, and I had Coke in a bottle! Something I haven’t had in years! I loved it!”
“Fast service, great food, even right before closing. We had the chicken and beef empanadas, fried pork chunks with yellow rice and black beans, and a piece of key lime pie. Would highly recommend to stop by here if you're looking for some delicious food with great staff. If I'm ever back in Key West, I will come here to eat again.”
“You should go for breakfast and again for lunch! Cuban coffee is delicious and chorizo breakfast tacos are excellent only if 3 handmade chorizo tacos with handmade salsa verde sounds good…It’s definitely delicious! Cuban sandwich also excellent and highly recommend !! Must try if you’re anywhere nearby!!!”
“We tried a bit of everything. Simply amazing. Best Italian we have had in a long time. Try the meatballs!!!!Rob was a great server, Angelo and his partner were very friendly and hands on owners. Great small feel atmosphere and very reasonable prices.”
“Best food I had in Key West! Was not even close. Spent 4 days there and I can say by far this was the best meal I had. We actually made plans to go back our last day because it was so good.Do not be thrown off by the fact that it's basically in an ally. The vibes are hole-in-the-wall and it is.Make sure to stop here! (And get the hot sauce)”
“I got the key west lobster roll. It had huge chunks of lobster and tasted fresh. It was big enough to be filling but too big so I wasn't able to finish it. It's $30 and comparing that to another $30 dish I don't know if I'd say it's worth that price. However, it's worth trying once. It's a small place, so there's not a lot of sitting room. However, you can take your sandwich to go and eat near or on the beach.Note: they don't take apple/google pay”
“What a great place! All around great experiment! Be sure to ask for Phillip - he is as our bartender and server as we sat at a high top in the bar area. Great martinis. Delicious stone carb followed with surf and turf and finished with the banana nut bread pudding! Can’t wait to go back on our next trip to Key West!”
“Very chill place with great beers! After ten years living in Key West, I'm glad to say we finally have a real brewery in Key West (Stock Island). I've tried many of their brews, and enjoyed many of them. I'm a dark beer kinda person and Cayo has already sold me on two dark beers that they currently brew. Love the symbiotic relationship they have with Roostica next door; we ordered pizza, had it delivered and ate it, all while sitting at the bar sipping on beers at Cayo Hueso. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The owner/brew master, is equally welcoming and takes great pride in his passion.”
