“So my man Marlon is the man! Best shaved ice I’ve ever had! It’s actual shaved ice! All you people that hate when places claim to have shaved ice but it ends up being crushed ice chips like you can get out of most home refrigerators with just flavored syrup poured on top that is nothing no where near as good have no fear Marlon got you and goes above and beyond and offers a new version I’ve never had before where he puts a scoop of ice cream on the bottom and condensed milk on top if you want…. I highly encourage you to try it if you haven’t! Funny thing is how we found Marlon and his store, we were walking on Duval and just so happens a few doors down this ignorant lady claims to have shaved ice and before I ordered questioned her to assure it was actually shaved ice not the bs version which she assured me it was but served me possibly the worst looking bowl of ice cubes I’ve seen for $8 and as I walked out looking at it in disgust I heard Marlon say “ahhh man she got you huh?” Lol. I tried to explain to her it’s not what I ordered and I isn’t shaved ice at I’ll and wanted a refund and she refused to give me a refund even tho I didn’t even eat a bite of it. So I just left it there for her to throw away and keep my $8 and went and got the best version of real shaved ice here with Marlon. Solid dude check him out don’t be fooled by the rude con artist crook lady who’s going to steal your money!“

“Walking into River Street Sweets in the heart of old Key West feels like stepping back in time—in the best possible way. As a kid, I remember visiting sweet shops just like this one, where the shelves were lined with endless rows of chocolates, candies, and handmade confections. Sadly, most of those magical places have disappeared… but not here. This shop captures that old-school candy store charm perfectly—and somehow improves on it.
From the moment you walk in, the air is rich with the scent of caramel and chocolate, and you’re greeted with warm smiles and samples (yes, samples!). You can watch the candy-making process live, which adds a whole layer of excitement—especially for kids. The pralines are world-class, but honestly, you could spend an hour just deciding between all the fudge flavors, chocolate-dipped everything, brittles, gummies, saltwater taffy, and so much more. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are literally hundreds of options.
Even though it’s in a high-traffic tourist area, I’ve never had to wait long, and the shop is well organized, clean, and fun to browse. The staff is friendly and patient, even when your kids are bouncing back and forth trying to decide what to get.
I make it a point to stop in every time I visit Key West—it’s become a tradition—and my kids now look forward to it as much as I did when I was their age. It’s nostalgic, delicious, and a genuine highlight of every trip.
Highly recommend if you’re in Key West. Even if you don’t have a sweet tooth, you’ll leave with a smile.“
