first time there today. super friendly and the food was good! will be back.
Best bbq anywhere ever !
I’ve been eating at Big John’s since I was a little kid, back when they were still in the old orange building, and it’s still my favorite BBQ spot in Tampa. Places like this are rare. They’ve been part of the community for decades, and after all these years the people there feel more like family than staff. Shoutout to Mr. Fred for always treating everyone like they’re regulars. Big John's Alabama BBQ is a wonderful spot, serving up mouthwatering meats such as chopped pork, chopped beef, and smoked chicken. Their pork is particularly noteworthy, described as moist and tender. The restaurant also offers a range of sides, including greens, mac, and potato salad, along with a sweet BBQ sauce. The smoking meats smell incredible, and the food is lip smacking good, with ribs falling off the bone and tender, juicy chicken. Customers have enjoyed meals like the 1/2 chicken dinner with baked beans and collard greens, noting that it feels like home cooking. The pork dinner, baked beans, and potato salad have also received praise for their great taste and reasonable prices. The staff provides friendly, prompt service, and the dining room can comfortably accommodate groups. However, some customers have expressed concerns about the quality of the BBQ, mentioning that the meat sometimes has a burned taste from cooking at higher temperatures. Despite these issues, Big John's Alabama BBQ remains a must-visit destination for BBQ enthusiasts, although attention is needed for their website, which has usability problems.
