“This time we had bistec (steak) with black beans and rice, plantains, and chocolate flan. It was amazing. We felt like we were in a local cafe in Miami again. We will be back.”

“Gladys’ Kitchen is a staple in the community, synonymous with Southern hospitality and comfort food—and they did not miss! From the moment we walked in, it felt like visiting your favorite aunt’s house on a Sunday after church. The food was hot and fresh, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Everything was well-seasoned, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The dressing was a tad dry but still flavorful. The collard greens may have been cooked with pork, which I don’t eat, so I didn’t have them—but I did taste them. They were finely cut, well-seasoned, and definitely not from a can. As I was leaving, I was asked about my experience, and I later realized I was speaking with Ms. Gladys herself. She was sitting in the lobby, observing and ensuring that everyone had a great dining experience. I highly recommend this place for both the food and the hospitality. This feels like “down home” ♥️”

“I'm not from Americus but don't mind driving the 45 minutes!! I have never had a bad experience and if something was wrong it was always corrected after speaking with my server.... The food is good, the vines are good and the servers are all very friendly!!! Bri is my favorite server though lol”

“For my seventieth birthday I came down from North Carolina to Georgia to spend it with my family. My nephew lives in Americus and The Fish House was one of his suggestions. We went there. Eighteen in our party! The staff were great. The food was awesome. It is a fish house but they serve other foods. I went with the Texas BLT and I was not disappointed. I thank you so much for the experience.”

“Came into town to meet up with friends. Met up here for lunch today. Quaint little spot. I went for an IBC Root beer, BBQ chips and a Georgia Club. Great sammich. That being said, it is a littttttttle on the thick side. I had to deconstruct and eat it with a knife and fork and ate the bread separately. Tasty. They do pastries, coffee and sell tshirts. 👍”

“I had a great experience at Zaxbys. We were traveling through Americus and stayed a couple of days. We went to Zaxbys because we don’t have one where I live. The customer service was superb, outstanding. I had a young lady helping me , her name was Loshandra. Please forgive me if I didn’t spell your name correct . The food was fresh and tasted great.

My experience was so pleasant that we went back the next day. Thank you Loshandra for being so kind and forthcoming.

“We stopped here for some fried okra. This is about the only place you can get some great tasting fried okra in town, for a great price. We got 2 family size okra, which was less than $15, and it was more than enough. The service was great for them to be extremely busy, and there were a lot of people standing and waiting on their food.”

“Me and my wife was trying this place for the first time today and it was so delicious!! I had ordered the 4 seasons dish and they were able to make it spicy upon my request (awesome!) My wife had ordered the Singaporean rice noodles and she was allowed to substitute out the standard shrimp and pork for chicken instead. The flavor of both dishes was so good and they packed the container so full of food, we were able to eat it on multiple occasions through out the day. The eggrolls and spring rolls were delicious also! Even though it was a 45 minute drive we would definitely go here again!!”

My father-in-law loves ice cream, so what better place to bring him than to see her. Plus, I can get him to eat food, too. Even if it is a kids' meal chicken strip with ice cream.

“I was tired from work, so I placed my order going home, and picked up my plate when I got in town and when I tell you it was to good and hit the spot, I was so satisfied that I actually considered ordering plate but I didn't want to gain 10 pounds in 10 mins lol, will definitely order the bbq wings with lemon pepper sprinkle again”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Still One of My All-Time Favorites, Even After 10+ Years

I’ve been going to Hibachi Express in Americus, Georgia on and off for over 10 years, and even though I live in Atlanta now, it’s still in my top five. That should tell you something!

The food has always been consistently flavorful—whether I’m getting the chicken, steak, or shrimp combo, it’s cooked just right every time. The fried rice hits, the veggies are always sautéed perfectly, and that signature white sauce? Still addictive.

I did notice that the portions are a little smaller than they used to be back in the day, but the quality has never slipped. And honestly, the flavor makes up for it. You can tell they still put care into each plate.

Every time I’m in Americus, Georgia, I make a point to stop by. It’s one of those hometown spots that just never lost its charm, and I’ve yet to find a hibachi spot in Atlanta that gives me that same satisfaction.
