SM44 ATL Reviews
Not officially sure of where to park besides valet, so parked across street paid parking. Ambience both inside and outside, amazing. Food good and flavorful. Waiter just has to remember to check on her table had to search several times for her but still received a good tip.
Overall from the food alone we'd comeback for sure! Unfortunately are server wasn't the best. Literally gave us bare minimum. She wasn't that welcoming but she did do her job. It seemed they were having plumbing issues so the place did have a smell that hit you as soon as you walked in. They did try to cover it up with a bunch of scented candles, however the smell was still there. SM44 ATL is a stylish and well-designed restaurant that offers a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The staff, including servers like Denise, Denver, and Goku, are praised for their personable, knowledgeable, and attentive service, making guests feel cared for from start to finish. The restaurant's inviting environment is complemented by the presence of friendly managers, chefs, and even the owner, creating a sense of community and pride, especially as a black-owned establishment.
The menu features a variety of dishes such as oysters topped with crawfish, sea bass, Brussels sprouts, lobster mac & cheese, and crispy chicken over grits. While some dishes, like the sea bass and mac & cheese, are flavorful, reviews suggest that the presentation and flavor could benefit from more refinement. The lobster mac & cheese, for instance, was good but not as creamy as expected, and the oysters with crawfish didn't quite work for one guest. The atmosphere feels more like a bar with dinner tables rather than a true fine dining space, and some felt the presentation was casual for the upscale vibe the restaurant aims for.
Guests also noted high parking charges, with a $25 fee that many found excessive, which impacted their overall experience. Despite this, the overall service and team dedication left a positive impression, and many expressed intentions to return. SM44 ATL is appreciated for its good service, inviting environment, and the sense of community it fosters.
