The Little (Velvet) Hippo didn't disappoint! I really enjoy Poor Hendrix (their sister restaurant in East Lake) so i had to stop by. It's a casually elevated sandwich shop and cocktail bar with counter service only. The staff is kind, the food is delicious and the drinks were great. i enjoyed the mezcal and tequila cocktail "the love of the larry" and would come back again and again for their chicken caesar sandwich. This place is such a vibe. I get “sexy food truck” meets “backyard barbecue” from the design aesthetic. It’s all outdoor seating, but there are parts that are covered.And the food? Shut up and take all my money. I stopped off for the first tome heading home from work and highly recommend the soup and salad. Flavor profiles on point and they add to the character of the shop. Who also doesn’t love a cocktail as well? Probably the best thing that I’ve had in my mouth in a while.Super friendly and engaging employees that will round out your amazing experience.Will be back for more!Parking: They share a parking lot with Donato’s and are in the back away from the road.

Immmm sorrryyyyyyy buttt whattt even is this place!? I went an hr after they opened for 2 sandwiches to already be sold out (the cashier let me know instantly so that was nice.) Depression on! So I had to settle. Howeverrrr we did not settle at all!! That damn PITA is LIFEEEEE!! Never had anything like it and wanted a second!! My order came out pretty fast about 15mins and the outdoor seating area is nice with high tops as an option. I will be returning but next time right when they open!!!
Great new neighborhood spot! Alloutdoor restaurant with a bright welcoming vibe. I loved the beet pita, it was delicious & very filling! The vietmanese style fried fish sandwich my husband got was yummy too but I preferred the beets. We both loved the southern potato salad. The hot toddy hit the spot on a cold day. Can’t wait to go again soon on a warmer day. Highly recommend,

We shared some beautiful weather waiting for our food here. Some good cake out quickly. Half of our order was obviously forgotten. When I inquired and when it was eventually dropped off (once everyone else was finished eating), there was no acknowledgement, no sorry about that. Just "I'll check" and "here ya go". On the upside, the Vietnamese catfish was the star dish for us.

My husband and 2 friends went to The Velvet Hippo today and loved it! The food was great; we had the Chicken Caesar sandwich, turkey wrap and beet pita. We left full and happy! The service is the same friendly and efficient service you get from Poor Hendrix. We loved the outdoor seating and can't wait to go back!

Wow, we like this place :) Totally outdoors (order at a counter), but they have a stylist little outdoor space if the weather is good. They also have a small amount of covered dining space. You can park in the public lot behind the main drag and walk through one of their three gates around the space. We brought the dog.The food was made very well. They use basic, quality ingredients and elevate them to create delicious items! The fish sandwich was perfectly fried, the chicken nuggs were like big juicy hunks of popcorn chicken, and the beet pita didn't forget any flavors.Parking: public lot behind restaurant

Love the place! Fun outdoor vibe with an open grassy area featuring a variety of picnic style tables or individual seating options. There's walk-up ordering, but table delivery. My Vietnamese catfish sandwich was delicious, with a great flavor and a generous filet, and Southern potato salad was also excellent. They serve local brews along with wine.Recommended!
