“I’d been craving authentic traditional Banh mi for several weeks. On 9/10/24, I was shopping in a different area than I live or work. I Googled and Yelped Vietnamese food in the area. Banh Mi Cafe had high ratings on both platforms and the photos on both platforms revealed a place that didn’t look overly “commercial”. I knew I was going out on a limb ordering at a new (to me) Vietnamese restaurant in the midst of a craving. It’s almost like stacking the deck against the restaurant. But, that day logic was overwhelmed by the craving and I was willing to take the risk. First good sign - when I arrived, prior to dinner but well after lunch, there were a couple of families dining in, and someone getting take out. Second good sign- The atmosphere as depicted in the pictures felt very homey and service provided was pleasant and courteous. The ultimate sign - my take out order was the Banh Mi Dac Biet, Banh Mi Thit Nuong, Banh Mi Tom Nuong, and Pho Dac Biet. Banh Mi Cafe not only satisfied my craving for authentic Vietnamese it exceeded my expectations. The food was flavorful and bright. After we finished our meal, my husband said, “this is so good, I can eat this every week!”“

Food: For our appetizer, we ordered the Vietnamese Mini Pancakes and I was not a big fan of them. I was expecting a bit more flavor than what I received. For my drink, I ordered a Thai Tea and did not like the flavor that much. For our main entrées, we ordered and tried the Stir Fried Noodles with Shrimp, Vermicelli with Onion and Lemongrass Sautéed Chicken, Baguette Sandwich with Chicken, and Baguette Sandwich with Pork. The only entrée I didn't like much was the Lemongrass Chicken dish, but the rest were very delicious. I liked the Stir Fried Noodles with Shrimp the most! There was a lot of flavor packed into it.

Service: Our server was very kind and attentive. We were one of two tables at the restaurant so we got a lot of attention and were never left waiting for too long.

Atmosphere: It's a cute place but feels a little quiet. At times I was worried that we were being too loud since it was a bit empty.

The Vietnamese sauce compliments the juicy crispy wings. No dipping sauce needed for their wings. The grilled pork banh mi - get the pate added and it’ll set it off. The pork was tender and smoky. They have sugarcane juice which was the best refreshing drink for a hot summer day. It’s a modern Vietnamese fusion spot that actually does it right. “I see a lot of complaints that I can tell are from people who have never had authentic gỏi gà (chicken salad). The chicken is suppose to be served cold in the salad. The chicken is suppose to be bland because it’s eaten with the ginger nước mắm. You can adjust the saltiness of your soup with nước mắm from the bottle or the ginger nước mắm dipping sauce.

We ordered the bánh canh gà, mì gà, and cơm gà, gỏi bắp cải, bắp chuối. Everything tasted great but I would especially recommend their salad and chicken rice. That’s really the star of the menu. It’s the best chicken salad I’ve had in Atlanta besides making it myself. The price is reasonable. All waiters in Asian restaurants just take your order, bring your food, and leave you alone to join. The service is not better or worse than any other Vietnamese restaurant.“

We went on Thursday night dinner and all table was full. Recommend making reservations for dinner.
I was nervous about mango and fried wings but appetizer mango wings were our favorite!
Chicken wings were so tender and juicy yet skins were so crispy. The sauce was flavorful and mango was extra kick and made it even better.
Definitely recommend soft shell pineapple curry. On the website, crabs were in the curry but it came out on the side. I recommend putting them in your curry it will observe the curry sauce and make the shell softer !
We also really enjoyed green tea cheesecake with ice cream.

We either come back if it’s good or don’t come back if it’s not good. Food is excellent and still the same for past 15 years and the same owners. My favorite is bún chả cá (fish cakes noodles) and bánh canh cua (crab noodles). My husband likes cơm tấm đặc biệt 7 món (7 special combinations broken rice) and bún bò huế (spicy beef noodles).
