“It’s the Varsity—fast food. Nothing was wrong with it, but I discovered I do not like chili cheeseburgers. I know something must be wrong with me! The chili cheese hotdog, on the other hand, was superb. I also tried the frosted orange for the first time. I thought it would be more like the old-time orange dream sickle. (Some of you may remember what I’m talking about.) Sadly, it was not. While it is frosted and orange, it’s just not very sweet. I so wanted it to be more sweet. If you’re ever through Atlanta, this is the Original Varsity, and you definitely should stop and try it.

“Best banh mi value in the area. We always order banh mi from here every time we visit Atlanta. The banh mi quality is pretty similar to Banh Mi Cali in California. They also sell really strong Vietnamese coffee cafe sua da; I would be awake for days drinking it, lol. Their noodles and goi cuon are yummy, too. They are super efficient, provide extremely quick service, and they are great at math--calculating in their heads accurately. Highly recommend!“

“In two visits to this area, we've stopped in this VARSITY location both times - a quieter, less busy, less chaotic alternative to downtown (which we also pass when in the area). Maybe too quiet: Both times we have been, it was midweek and mid-afternoon, but for the size of this location (it's HUGE) it was 'dead'. Hopefully it's just when we have been and not like this all the time. (VARSITY has been closing these outlying locations, one at a time, for a few years now.) While downtown is *THE* experience; this location is more for [current or former] locals wanting the comfort & nostalgia of eating VARSITY without the fuss. It is very clean - from the parking lot, to the outdoor area, to the indoor dining, even the restrooms. VERY clean. We parked where we wanted, went straight to the register to place our order, and sat where we wanted. Food is fast and cooked to order and just as good (if not better) as Downtown. I'd actually recommend this location to anyone I knew who was going to be in the area that was already familiar with The VARSITY [Downtown], wanted the food but not wanting the 'experience' of the Downtown location.“

It is MARTA-accessible via the 809 bus. MetroFresh is very bright and welcoming, with a cute coffee/wine/cocktail bar in the back of the restaurant. I enjoyed the 80s music playing in the background. The staff were extremely friendly and happy to answer questions and offer samples of salads and soups. We ordered Seared Thai 🥥 Salmon, Mitchell’s 🦃 Chili Lunch Special (included 🍪 and drink), and fruit salad. I sampled the Apricot and 🍐 Basil 🐔 Salad. My salmon was delicious. The protein was cooked to a perfect medium, and the stir-fry vegetables were cooked evenly and remained just firm enough to handle the rich sauce. The sweet chili sauce & 🥥 🥛 packed a flavorful punch, and I am looking forward to eating my leftovers. My husband always orders the 🦃 chili, as it is definitely one of the better ones in Atlanta. I think they were short-staffed, but it was a mess. Now, coming to the good part: I loved the whole chicken. They could’ve added a bit more seasoning to the peri chips. The garlic bread was nicely made, and the Portuguese rice was good, though it was super cold. My favorite was the peri-peri wings—they were delicious. I enjoyed the chicken thigh sandwich as well.
