Went in August of 2024. What a farmers market should be. The doughnuts were the best I've ever had!
Awesome
Wonderful produce & other items, it is small.
This little market is one not to miss if you want a taste of the Hāmakua life. Bring cash!! thereʻs no internet there to process payments, (but there is an ebt table where folks can get coins to spend from the card balance - make those gov $$ go hyper local!). Family friendly, all vendors sell local produce and products, no costco flippers allowed! Music, craft activites, art, games and local foods, including lots of amazing gf vegan options.
Everything was home grown and hand made. I even found wild pork products. This is a must attend!
Super friendly market...great prices and good energy. Definitely a must see on the hilo side.
Best market on the island for great food and people!

So sad that this gem of a park, with beautiful stream, old cane factory, history boards, etc. is now closed due to severe lead contamination from the large bridge overhead. My wife’s dad and family grew up in Hakalau working for the plantation, and this was always a favorite spot for our kids growing up. You can walk in on the road or down the slippery path where the old cane haul road was at the top if you want to see what’s left of the factory site, but no more driving down. As of October 2019 it’s getting very overgrown down there, no maintenance at all being done, and sadly they have done NOTHING to keep the bridge from continually flaking paint into the land and water, increasing the problem. Sad end for a spectacular cove and a piece of Big Island history.
This is a legit farmers market with actual local produce. No repackaged stuff from Costco like the big markets in Hilo and Kona, just a nice variety of whatever is in season and grown nearby. There is also some really tasty Thai food!
Alrite I haven't been there yet
