we really miss Damon’s smiling face. Such a waste to hide him in the back bar
Watched the lava erupting right in front of the restaurant. Excellent atmosphere and sightseeing. Pizza is too hardened in my opinion I do like the premium toppings.
Great Location, Poor Execution
You can’t beat the location — sitting right on the rim of Kīlauea crater is an experience in itself, and that alone earns some stars. The food was good and the drinks were great, so the kitchen is clearly doing something right.

Uncle George's Lounge | The Volcano House is a must visit if you are in the park and looking for a bite to eat. The staff is very nice and kind. The pizza here was cooked to perfection, with one guest noting the pizza was the best ever, especially with bacon and bell peppers. The fish and chips were great, with hurricane style fries that were bomb. The rice plate is decent. Volcano Burgers were excellent. The food was incredible and far more delicious than other National Parks. Service was great and fast. One guest noted the food was average with a bit of a wait, but the vantage point to see the volcano is priceless. The view from the window looks over the crater and it’s amazing; in the night, you can also see the red glow. Given the location and the view, the price is pretty acceptable. The only drawback is the light is a little too bright to look out.
