“A little research told us that Uncle George's at the Volcano House was the least expensive option in the Volcano area. We went there for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. We both had the Kalua pork and some Malbec. The pork was delightful and the portions were huge. The cost was way less than the Kilauea Lodge or the Ohela Cafe. On top of all this great food we had a wonderful waitress. I have dined in all 50 states and 8 foreign countries. Cameron was one of the best I have ever had. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and very efficient. Her smile helped make up for the kind of miserable day we had. Volcano used to be a place where you could find great food at good prices. Most places have priced themselves out of budget. Uncle George's makes up for that. I strongly suggest this place- for the ambiance, the view, the food, the prices, and the service. I would also ask for Cameron.”

“So delicious!! We were excited to stop here after a day at Volcano National Park based on the prior reviews, and it did not disappoint! It was wet and rainy, and we ate in our car (hence, awesome people so good atmosphere), and it was still worth it! Friendly staff and just really yummy food!”

“Wife and I recently discovered this food truck via “happy cows” website for vegan/vegetarian food. Maybe one of the best values on the Big Island! Food is made to order - so you can get spicy versus typical “sweet” here. Portion sizes are very generous. All very fresh ingredients. My pad thai (choice of meats or tofu) was great. Enjoy!”

“The food at the cafe was delicious. The owner was extremely friendly. Very interesting art shop, to browse and shop from local artistans. Definitely recommend lunch here!!;”
“My husband and I are wine lovers and enjoy tasting wines that are unique. This place was super unique and fit the bill of what we were looking for on the island. Truly a great set of staff. We enjoyed several hours of conversation, and fell for the tea infusion wine. We enjoyed ourselves and purchased several bottles to ship home. Definitely agree with previous reviews that the red wine Pinot noir is nothing to compare to California or Europe, but found the strong players to be the guava infused/tea infused. Would definitely come again if in the area.”

“I was on my way to hike at HVNP but was too lazy to make a sandwich. I stopped here and ordered a tuna on cranberry walnut bread to go. What was really great was the way the kind girl tightly wrapped the sandwich in paper and sealed it in a baggy. Perfect to go in my backpack! And wow, it was delicious. Very gourmet. The way the sweet from the cranberry bread complimented the spicy from the radish sprouts was awesome. Also, it was so big, I got two meals out of it. What I liked best was how quickly my meal was freshly made to my order. If you are looking for wholesome food and don't have a lot of time to wait, I highly recommend Eagles. They had homemade soups and chili that smelled wonderful too!Parking: Ample free parkingKid-friendliness: Kiddos welcome”

“Great food, especially the pineapple curry, loved it! A minor hiccup occurred the day of our visit and the power was down, so wasn't able to enjoy the food at the restaurant and had to take away”

“Ōhelo Cafe is a Volano café that more than deserves its five stars. I had been under the impression that it was a vegetarian / vegan restaurant and boy was I wrong. My cousin has been visiting and we didn't wanna really drive back into town and so she suggested Ōhelo. I was hesitant because of what I had heard, but I knew I could find something on the menu. Well, it does serve all kinds of food. My cousin had the most delicious Bacon Guava Burger, and I had the margarita pizza with mildly spicy Italian sausage. Both items were really really delicious especially the pizza. I'm very happy to know that there is a place close to me or I can get some inventive food that tastes great. The Good: Fairly priced delicious food in the neighborhood The Bad: you can't order burgers at dinner time. And parking can be limited unless you park in the unpaved lot next-door. Chances I'll Be Back: YES! another option in Volcano. Delicious food can't wait to try more out on the menu.”

“Considering the location, pretty reasonable prices on the food. Specials depending on the day. We were staying on KMC on a Friday and Saturday so we had the fish and chips on Friday. On Saturday I had the teriyaki chicken and rice. Food was good! There is no waitress. You place your order at the cashier when you go in and you get a number on your receipt. When your food is ready, they call your number and you go pick it up from the chef. It was pretty busy on Friday night and the Cafe seemed a bit under staffed keeping up with the flow of people. But everyone was pleasant and all worked hard. Price includes salad and a drink. Overall I thought it was pretty good.”

“A great place to dine while looking at a living volcano. I also like the food here. However, there is a bit of a wait at the entrance to be guided. The price isn't bad so it's not burdensome.Breakfast is buffet style only.”
