The owner graciously told there were a couple bento boxes left that he could save for us if we come pick it up.The food was a great variety of Korean / Hawaiian inspired meats with Korean side dishes over rice. I can say how delectable each and every dish they serve is, because I have eaten them all!When you enter you can select items from their buffet line to create your own local style plate lunch.The mandoo are scrumptious, especially when dipping them into Kum Yo's homemade dipping sauce.Each day of the week she has set entrees in which you have multiple choices of freshly prepared veggies, cold tofu to limu.Fresh, hot onoliscious entrees and massive portions, yet very reasonably priced.Take out or dine in.Kum Yo's is my favorite Okazuya in Hilo!Love you folks and tell David I miss seeing him!Sorry there is no food left to photograph! “I found my favorite restaurant in Hilo on the Big Island.I recommend the ribs & spice chicken combo. Of the 4 side dishes, I don't recommend the japchae because it's too spicy.Noodles are also good when you're craving hot soup.You can order without tip and eat in the common area or To Go.“

“My fiancè decided to take us here since we don’t have any place like this in Kona and he knows I LOVEEEE my Korean bbq food (especially meat jun lol). Walked in and you can tell this place is on the older side. Customer service wasn’t GREAT but it was okay. The banchan selection was great & soooo yummy that I’m craving it just typing this out. My fiancè ordered a plate of bbq chicken and a plate of meat jun. I think the girl misunderstood because she brought out a combo plate. Combo plate seemed to be of smaller portion compared to most korean bbq places and our meat jun wasn’t cut up like most places serve it. Bbq chicken was also very thin (also not used to that). But flavor of both were yummy. Will probably be back here next time we go to Hilo.“

“I wanted to see what all of the hype was about Korean corn dogs. Korean corn dogs have a batter that is made of rice flour and fried in hot oil, so they are very crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, like fried mochi. Some of them have little cubes of potato mixed into the batter so they are like crispy French fries on the outside.I was very excited to find out that "Corn Dogs by Mr. Cow" in Hilo has Korean corn dogs and wanted to try them while I have the opportunity. They were terrific! Very tasty! Not healthy, but definitely fun to experience Korean street food.You can get a sausage on the inside or mozzarella or cheddar cheese, or you can get half sausage, half cheese.We got one Mr. Cow Classic outside with half sausage, half cheddar inside, one Fried Potato outside with half sausage, half mozzarella inside, and one Flaming Potato with flaming Cheeto crumbs on the outside. We also got the cheese balls. Piggies! Highly recommend for a yummy Korean street food experience!“

“So....I've passed this place for years and somehow never eaten here, and finally we did.

I am a huge fan of places that serve kimchi fried rice...it's one of my favorite things to eat. You have to love kimchi to like it... keep that in mind.

This one was solid, but I was really surprised about the teriyaki chicken...honestly it was one of the best I've eaten in Hilo town. I highly recommend this dish if you like the rice, but if not, the chicken was yummy, can't go wrong with that!

My husband ordered the mochiko chicken.
The plate sizes are way bigger than we expected, so it makes the price seem reasonable.
I couldn't stop eating his lol!!! It was super crispy and moist on the inside....I definitely couldn't make it like this at home! So we both ? recommend the mochiko chicken.

Honestly, I can't wait to go back...the menu is huge! JAPANESE AND KOREAN and some American things for people who would rather have that. Go check it out.

Do keep in mind this is a local place, not fast food... so have patience with the servers and know it's worth the wait if you go in during a rush time when it's full.“
