“OMG! I want to so bad not to review this place because it will only make it more popular and I just want it all for myself. Would that be selfish of me? I mean, this place, omg the pho, the banh mi, and I've only been here once. I want to melt when I walk in. Thank you for being here.“

“We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary and the dining experience was outstanding! The food was flavorful, delicious and looked like a piece of art. The live music added to the fine dining experience. To top off the evening the desserts were rich and yummy-but the "Wow" factor was the coffee we ordered served in a french press coffee maker! We will be back and bring our friends and family!“

“Fantastic pho. Some of the best I’ve had!!
Note to the owner: please don’t use bleach to clean the tables. Some bleach dripped on my seat, and when I sat down it stained my shirt and pants. A non-bleach cleaner would be better for customers’ clothing! Thank you.“

“Came here on a Thursday at 9:50 AM. They had lots of selections, though there were no sashimi platter or chirashi bowl type of items. Lots of maki, inari, and bento boxes. You can also order poke bowl (shoyu tuna or spicy tuna).
I ordered poke inari set (2 shoyu 1 spicy). The rice was perfectly cooked. Tofu skin was very flavorful. Though I wasn't able to taste the shoyu poke much, because the inari sauce was overpowering.
Overall, the quality of food was good. Price is reasonable. Good grab and go before your adventure day.“

“we were at another Hilo restaurant for half an hour before we decided to leave because no one took our order. We had 45 minutes before we had to be at our Doctorsh office so stopped at Kens. fast service, good food,no mistakes. Carlene was our waitress and she was the bomb. I left a big tip but also wanted to leave a good review. Kens Rocks!“

“I had a great experience here. The food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were very generous. The pancakes were especially delicious light, fluffy, and full of flavor. The service was friendly. The prices are about average for the quality and generous portion sizes, making it an excellent value. I highly recommend checking this place out.“

“Mahalo nui au i nā wāhine o ka Papa'a Palaoa Bakery ma Hilo, Hawai'i. They assisted me in providing a whole lilikoi pie to bring home to San Francisco. They fully wrapped the box in plastic to keep the pie protected, so I could then place it in an insulated bag and surround the box with frozen ice packs. The pie (as well as a cinnamon roll) made it back home just as "hou" (fresh) as when I purchased it, me ka pilikia ole (with no problems), and the pie tastes 'ono loa. I am very grateful for their assistance, and especially their kindness. I highly recommend this bakery to everyone who wants fresh baked goods, but most of all, I am very grateful to the Aloha given by their employees. Mahalo nui loa!!“

“For over 15 years my family and I loved this place. Whether u need one good plate lunch or a solid bento to start your day off this place was and continues to be the shit. From good variety on the bento choice, solid value on the portions and price and especially taste this place always hit the spot. The only thing keeping me from coming daily like I used to is the lack of the custom bento. Don't get me wrong you won't be disappointed at the offering but I'm sure we all crave some different combos at least id like to see back at some point. Love this place and outside that never change!“

“The man who worked here when we came in in mid November was the epitome of aloha. So kind and welcoming. We had never been before and took his time to explain the menu and make suggestions. For parents travelling with three kids you feel like a burden on a small restaurant like this but again, he was so welcoming to all of us. The Miso garlic katsu was our favorite! So so good. The lamb was also super yummy. Chicken katsu was good, just not as good as the other two.“

“Hidden gem with the best authentic Thai food on the Big Island. Imagine having a Thai grandma custom make you everything and this is it! For real. Don’t let the ambiance of this small food court shape your opinions, let your taste buds explode. They take cash and card, and everything is made with care.“
“Yen’s restaurant is one of the more authentic Chinese restaurants which does have a mix of Vietnamese dishes and drinks. It’s hard to find a good Chinese restaurant in Hilo and am happy to say that their food is fresh and tasty.
We had the spring rolls, pork rice plate and chicken with string beans rice plate. Had the standard Vietnamese coffee (yum!) and one of their interesting cold coffees (brewed coffee with pandan extract and condensed milk)….very good and refreshing! If you prefer it to be less sweet, simply ask for less condensed milk, like I did. We’re definitely planning on going back again to try other dishes.
DO note their current hours: Wednesdays - Fridays, 10:30am - 7:30pm.
This restaurant has been around, serving the Hilo community, for many years and glad they’re still around! Service was good and the restaurant is clean and well organized. Though it’s not a big place (a plus in my books!), it does have a nice ambience with comfortable seating arrangements. There’s some parking space in front of the restaurant as well. Always feel good to support local businesses that do a good job. Highly recommend this family business! Cheers!“

“Finally stopped in at this great little drive-in. First off Miko (sp) at the counter is super friendly and made some great recommendations including the lasagna and she was not wrong! Garlic toasts, big piece of lasagna and fresh salad. Also got two breakfast burgers with ham, 2 for $8 on Monday, and everyday they have an $8 special! They also have an afternoon fry and burger special for $3.99.“

“We are traveling here to visit from FLORIDA. We ordered spicy Thai basil and mixed vegetables with cashew nut. They are so good. They are real authentic Thai food. Reasonable price and friendly service. Highly recommended 👍🏻“
“This place is fast and the service and taste are consistently good. Some of my favorites are the fried tofu curry, spicy ramen, teriyaki chicken, mushroom skewers, miso eggplant, and potstickers. They make a pretty brownie sundae for dessert. There is an ice cream place next door that is open during the day too. They are open on Mondays which is notable in Hilo. We like to make reservations here for family parties, but there are usually tables available for walk-ins. You can definitely eat here during your lunch hour. This place is very clean and quiet with pleasant instrumental music.“

“I've been here several times, I live real close. Yes, the speed of your meal will vary and, depending on how you've pre-partied, you'll either be patient or not. They don't have a huge staff and the food is prepared fresh. The food is worth the wait, so have a snack first if you're planning to come.
I've seen a lot of hangry people not be so kind.“

“Whoa, Lam's Garden's food Rocks! We went 2/15/26, and have now found the best Vietnamese food place, in Hilo! There was a short wait, but they have chairs to sit and wait. There's a sign in sheet too, and huge tv's on the wall, so you can watch stuff. 2026 is starting off great, by trying out all the places we didn't go to, for the past 5 years! Definitely returning!“

“Had lunch here 2/3 days that we were in Hilo, everything was amazing. The Misoyaki Butterfish Salad was fresh and extremely flavorful without being heavy, and the fish melts like butter in your mouth. We also had a cold water scallop special, an eggplant /marinara/pesto/ricotta appetizer (forgot what it's called, oops!) and crab cakes. Everything was great, honestly one of the best places I've eaten at on the entire island. I like to sit at the bar, as I'm a former long time bartender. Sascha is one of the best around, cocktails were, again, among the best that I found on the island, including Kona. Service was top notch, no matter how busy he got, and he took extra time to modify one of the house cocktails so that an elderly gal with sensitive teeth sitting nearby could enjoy it. I would honestly make the drive from Waikoloa just for this, but Hilo has plenty of outdoor activities to offer as well.“

“Our Sunday multi-table extended family banquet for college grad grand son was outstanding!!! Our 10menu items were delicious, hot, generously plated, and a great value. Service attention was excellent, allowing prompt transition to family provided deserts.

“No dine in which is fine. But this place is a gem. Dont go waiting in line somewhere when you can get some of the most delicious food on the island right here and the prices are insane. Loco Moco is up there with the best and the Hilo style siamin was so good. Healthy portions as well.“

“Very good food. Well sized portions too.
There were some Japanese food options that are less common than what we always see in the menus.
I also think it is great option for groups with different tastes, because they have Korean, Japanese, local dishes and American cuisine. They also have a kids menu.“

“I was craving chicken katsu curry and fried rice. I thought they had a combo like that from Oahu. They did not have it on the menu. The waitress said order the kids portion and get a side fried rice. I thought it be just right. I was wrong the katsu curry was enough and I am saving the fried rice for lunch tomorrow. The fried rice came out in less than 5 minutes and not long after the chicken katsu curry arrived too. The katsu curry was nice and hot. The katsu crispy and tender. Worth coming here if you are hungry.“

“I LOVE Reuben’s…staff, food, all is great! The only thing that I would please ask that management to do is bring in a local or better quality margarita mix. The one that is used is the basic cheap one you get from liquor distributors and it gives me a headache. Getting a margarita with a good tequila and that mix doesn’t make sense. Not sure if it’s the coloring or what, but I’d come around more often if the mix was a better quality. Heck, I’d even pay more if there was an option for a better margarita mix!!“
