“Here on vacation from Australia. The food was fantastic, tasted great, really fresh. Lots of local craft beers on tap. Absolutely recommend.Vegetarian options: Some veg options and a solid selection of the menu can be made vego.Parking: Street parking, plenty of spots, but it's on the highway, so the traffic can be a problem.Kid-friendliness: A few options for kids, but our kids liked most of the regular menu“

“Amazing local place with great Japanese food.Highly suggested. The sashimi is as fresh as can be.They have some parking out front, but it fills up fast. They do not take reservations, so I suggest coming early. They have a bench out front to wait at.If you are in the area it is a must go for excellent food.“

“We went here on Sunday branch with some girl friends to have lunch. Good choices on Sunday branch menu and foods were pretty good. Service was swift and friendly. The only thing was that 2 people from our table ordered Eggs Benedict, but they looked pretty different in sizes and presentation from one another. Hmmm.... Plenty of parking around this bar and they have live band here sometimes. Good place to hang out, drink, eat, play pool etc.“

“Not a vegan but I’m convinced the journey salad is the best $19 of food you can get in Kona (even though it’s a little different every time). They are food geniuses.I wouldn’t recommend the ultimate bbq pocket because it’s not much food for the $ compared to the salad (see photo)“

“I’d return in a heartbeat! We were referred this place by our host and we’re blown away by how big the portions were and how flavourful our food was. My partner and I split the fish burrito which had a nice spice and zesty flavour to it. We took our food outside to the patio and enjoyed the views and lizards from there. Parking is limited but it’s well worth the wait or walk.Parking: There are a limited number of stalls in front but plan to arrive early.“

“We tried the chicken katsu, the wontons, the smoked pork, and the spicy furikake karagi. The katsu had such a good crunch, the wontons were filled with smoked meat and the flavor of the wontons themselves was mildly sweet. The smoked pork was tender and juicy with a very nice smoky flavor. The atmosphere was very casual, and the place seemed to be owned by a lovely family. Would recommend.“

“This was a great place to eat. The food tasted amazing (definitely certified ono aka delicious) and very filling. The staff was friendly and the service was relatively quick. All of the ingredients were fresh. It was very close to the ocean and local shops, and there was a bathroom inside (which was an extra bonus if you've been out and about). I would definitely recommend it to others!“

“Seiji’s is the place you go if you know what it means to have really good sushi. His contacts for amazingly flavorful and deliciously fresh fish are among the best I have tasted. Seiji and his wife, Chie are truly delightful. Conversation that boasts an intimate family feel in their restaurant. Highly worth finding the time for a reservation!“

“Kai is definitely one of my top places to lunch . The best and closest ocean view, the pizza is the best, their service is always good, parking is easy across the way! And most importantly I feel that they are one of not the most integrity driven food options on alii drive , while other establishments sometimes rest on a steady new supply of tourists and take advantage… I’ll be back soon“

“Great place to stop on your way south from Kona or headed north to Kona. We went for Taco Tuesdays this time and enjoyed the grilled fish tacos, regular fish and chips, and grilled fish and chips and, as usual, had leftovers to bring home for the next day. Friendly staff. Quick services and Ono food.“

“Shimaichi has become a go-to sushi spot for my family anytime we are in Kona. The fresh, high-quality sushi is worth returning for time and again. We decided to celebrate Valentine's Day there this year and made reservations ahead of time. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite busy with other couples and families out for the holiday. With just one server handling all the tables, service was understandably slower than usual. However, each dish that emerged from the kitchen proved the wait worthwhile. We ordered a few specialty rolls along with nigiri and sashimi. The innovative combinations of flavors and textures in rolls like the Pink Lady and Black Tiger dazzled our palates. And the nigiri featured thick cuts of the freshest ahi, salmon and hamachi - absolute melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Despite being short-staffed for the holiday rush, the sushi chefs crafted each roll with precision and care. None of the complex flavors or intricate presentations were lost. The exquisite tastes transported us right to the shores of Japan. For consistently exceptional sushi, impeccable freshness and taste combinations that impress, Shimaichi is a must. The relaxed, contemporary atmosphere provides the perfect setting for enjoying culinary works of art. It may take a little patience on busy nights, but the top-notch sushi is worth the wait. Shimaichi remains one of our go-to island celebrations spots.“

“Tom is a stand up guy. Personable, and informative. I walked in with a Bostonian "Hey, ahh, what's the deal with this that and the other thing?" Kind of questioning and he gave me the answers I was looking for. Gave me a big fat bowl of pulled pork and rice to boot. It was worth every penny and I'll likely make it a regular stop. Good people, good food, no complaints.“

“What a great and bustling taproom. I was a little apprehensive as this was a larger nationally distributed brewery but all of the beers I tried were very tasty and brewed completely true to style. The pink boots black IPA and the steam ale both really stood out to me.Also, even though the place was slammed and people were moving left right and everywhere the bartender still took a little time to help us with our beer selection and treated us very kindly. Thank you, and I hope you get to pequods soon!“

“Outstanding service and food. I appreciate the staggered reservations for the one-on-one service and recommendations! The food was amazing and I wish I could try the whole menu! Dessert was definitely the best part- the lilikoi mousse- phenom!“
“This place is seriously amazing. We walked in and oh my gosh the menu looked delicious. I've been in kona for a couple days now, tasted several different dishes, yet this is BY FAR THE BEST!!! I got a açaí bowl and oh my gosh, it was truely delicious. It had the most perfect amount of sweetness with delicious fruit chunks. I then got the lilikoi amazing. it was sparkling, sweet and just so perfect. We had to get seconds of it!!! The crepes where also amazing, we tried 3 different ones and they all where delicious. Wish we could eat there every day of our lives! So refreshing to go to a restaurant where you can tell they care about customers health while makeing the most delicious food. If you want a healthy delicious place, come here!“
“I haven't stayed at this hotel, but enjoy the delicious local food in the restaurant. I especially love to eat their famous pork chops and homemade hamberger steaks. The hotel will soon close but i heard the restaurant will remain open. If you want some good local grinds when up mauka, you gotta stop by Managos.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jackie Rey's in Kona, and oh, what a treat! The food was absolutely divine, with each dish more delicious than the last. Standouts included:- Pork Chop: Tender, juicy, and full of flavor- Lamb Shanks: Fall-off-the-bone tender and richly flavored- Duck Breast: Cooked to perfection, with a crispy skin and succulent meatThe culinary expertise and attention to detail in each dish were impressive. However, the cocktails could use some improvement. Unfortunately, they were watered down and lacked the strength and flavor I crave in a good cocktail.Despite this, I highly recommend Jackie Rey's for its exceptional food and warm atmosphere. With a few tweaks to their mixology, this restaurant would be a true gem!“

“We love coming to the Fish Hopper. Affordable and yummy food with a great view. Every time we come to Kona, we love to stop in. Breakfast Benedict’s are our favorite. Don’t skip on their hearty dessert menu! Can’t beat the view, watching whales jump in the distance as we speak.“
“The croissant is like in France, no kidding. I also loved the sourdough seed bread. My banana bread is better, but I liked that they used spelt in theirs. They open to the public 1 day a week, Wednesday at 2:00. Be late and you go hungry! Now I have to keep track of the day of week…“

“Was recommended by our local manta ray snorkel guide, and did not disappoint. Food was great, service was excellent. Atmosphere was beautiful as well, only down side eating outside there are lots of hungry birds around who want to scavenge some grub - however they are easily waved away. Absolutely recommend!“

“seems to be a newer spot - very small space so expect to wait a little bit if you go during peak hours. absolutely delivered on our Thai craving - the Penang Curry was to DIE for. Just a couple servers, but the food is made fresh to order so expect some piping hot entrees. Would definitely recommend.“

“I cannot believe I waited so long to try this place. To say the food was delicious is an understatement. We got the spicy garlic shrimp, the spicy frutikake chicken and the braised short ribs. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and well seasoned. The chicken was crispy, moist and tender. The short ribs though… they were the real star. Tender, juicy and flavorful. We also order the kimchi rice, which I was not a huge fan of, and the mac salad, which was also good. We will definitely be back again and again.“

“WORTH PULLING OVER FOR. Absolutely out of this world, flavorful, seemingly endless menu combinations of authentic Jamaican food straight from the heart. Had curry potatoes, pumpkin corn bread, and fried plantains. All three were moist, and consistency was THERE. wish I was hungry enough to try everything. 12 out of 10Parking: Gas station lot, find a spot, park right outside the pop up.“

“Good pizza easy to get to with parking available. We normally go to the Black Rock Pizza in Captain Cook, and it is some of the best pizza I have found on the island. I saw that they opened up in Kailua-Kona right off Ali'i, so we gave it a try. The pizza is very good, not at all disappointing. I do favor the Captain Cook location maybe because of the ambiance and the view. I am not a big beer drinker but Captain Cook offers beer, wine and hard liquor whole currently the Kailua'Koba location does not offer alcohol. But the pizza is very good. The staff and service is great. They are on top of your need while there.“

“They always so packed & their hours of operation drives me crazy. May as well not even try to call in a order to go because 99% of the time they will enforce their “No Takeout” policy ????????? BUT THEIR FOOD IS SO DELICIOUS & reasonably priced ?? my favorite is their Steak sandwich !! Best I ever had - EVERY TIME ?Parking: Only fits about 5 vehicles“

“We enjoyed this place so much we dined here 3x! It’s that good! If you see anything on a Thai menu for papaya salad and it has an option of Lao Style -pick it! So good! All of the food was tasty and of course we were pleasantly surprised to learn the owner is Lao! She and her husband were very nice and friendly as is all of the staff. It’s located right in front of the ocean view-so it’s nice to enjoy dinner and a refreshing cocktail while watching that beautiful sunset.“

“Love the variety of curries here (most Thai restaurants have only green, yellow and red.) My husband and I enjoy the Masssaman curry- a deep and sweet flavor with potatoes and onions and peanuts. We tried the Panang Curry today, reminds of Thom Kha soup because of those fragrant lime leaves (see pic). Will try local fruit curries next time.Thom Kha soup here is okay (the Royal Thai in Keauhou Shopping mall is much more flavorful and more generous with meat portion. Also, the Thom Kha in Waimea at Parker Ranch mall best overall on island in our opinion on soup, just FYI.)The atmosphere is clean, sweet staff, nice decor. Would recommend curries here for sure. Oh, and the "wingers" (little chicken wings fried perfectly and seasoned tastefully) were excellent here. We tried the chicken satay last time, also good, but we are best connoisseurs of Thom Kha, heh.Expect to pay around $20 per curry (unless lunch weekday special ) We appreciate ability to upgrade to sticky rice instead of jasmine here at Krua, also. Bit of an upcharge ($2) but worth it for the texture- almost like dessert for us. (Yah, yah we know it ain't as nutritious but desserts rarely are.) Overall, great restaurant to try, within easy walking distance to Kailua Pier.Wheelchair accessibility: Kinda accessible, stairs to front entrance, and another entrance ramp (minimum incline) on other side which is good, but! There is always somebody parked in ramp exit path to parking area north side and the parking stop curbs on west ramp area are tight, some wheelchairs too wide for east access, just FYI. See photos to judge for yourself and your own needs.“

“A tiny restaurant with a hole in the wall vibe, offering fresh and no frill sushi. Their red hot lava sushi roll is good, but the portion was small. I had to order 2 more portions of nigiri sushi (it's 2 nigiri per portion) to fill myself up.“

“Came over for the day to look at nurseries. The Buffalo wings extra crunchy was great. The Chicharon was flavorless. And the vinegar flavored wings were bland. The Kalua pig nachos were really good and the garlic fries were awesome. I gave a 5 star even though I didn't care for 2 things that we ordered because the things that I ORDERED WERE MEMORABLE!!“

“This is my favorite Thai place in Captain Cook, my neighborhood, and is better than any in Kailua-Kona except Thai Rin. The vegatables are fresh and always crispy in every dish I've had. Prices are good. Photo shown is half of an order of Kee Mow rice noodle with vegetables. I was so hungry I forgot to take the picture:) For addinng shrimp at $2, I got 5 shrimps. I am always pleased with her (the owner's) cooking. My other favorite is Tom Kar soup. The coconut cream she uses is very rich and creamy. It is a take-out place wtih some tables outside in the courtyard of Kealakekua Ranch Center.“

“We just got back from 4 weeks in Texas and stumbled on this place while on vacation. This place is on the same level as the best bbq in Texas. The brisket was incredible and so tender, the Mac and cheese is a must, best cornbread I’ve ever had, and the mac salad was pretty good too. I highly recommend fitting this place into your trip, soo good!“
