“Incredible meal at Moon & Turtle. We started with two small plates- smoked sashimi and ahi belly. Then shared the half size of mushroom risotto with the market fish (marlin in an amazing miso coconut brown butter sauce). We couldn't pick just one dessert so we shared the miso cheesecake and macadamia pot de creme. Lychee gin cocktail was also delicious. I will say the risotto and sashimi as staples are both worth the hype and the marlin with the complex sauce was my personal favorite but we loved every single dish. Everything was so fresh with unique flavor combinations. There are so many other items on the menu we want to come back and try. The service is also impeccable. Carson was perfectly attentive and so helpful. She even gave us some recommendations for things to see in the area. Highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait for a second meal here!“
“The best poke I have had on big island so far (IMO - much better and cheaper than Da Poke Shack in Kona). Had the Everyday Joe bowl and it was delicious! All the elements in the bowl went together perfectly. This is strictly takeout but there is one bench you can snag if lucky. Staff were also super nice. Will definitely revisit this place before I leave!“

“By far the best poke I has I have ever had!!!!!. This very unassuming location in Hilo Hawaii renders some great options in poke pleasure. I had the opportunity to sample the spicy tuna salad which was not only buttery but provided the exact amount of space to enjoy the fresh fish cultivated from the beautiful Hawaiian shores. Other items on my plate were the buttery garlic scallops. Delicious and worth a 6 hour flight over!“

I came in right before close and was met with happy, friendly, and helpful employees.The menu was simple and clear, which is appreciated. $12 for single, $17 for double, or $22 for triple. All options for Poke and sides are on display.Kapua was the one who helped me. She noticed I was having a hard time choosing, and offered samples. I might have got lucky, but she let me split my order. So, I got the double, but got to split two sides, and four smaller portions of Poke.I got the house spicy mayo, Hawaiian ahi, Kalbi ahi and the aku Hawaiian. I got the Ula mash and the mac-n-cheese for sides. Everything was great. The double was big enough for two, but on a good day, I could eat it all myself.Now for the embarrassing part. As soon as I got to the car, it was devoured by everyone. This was supposed to be a pre-dinner snack, but after a long day at the beach........no photos were taken in its pristine glory.We come out to visit family every few months, and my goal is to try new places each time. I'm going to have to make another stop at Ellie Girl Poke this trip.I took a photo of the plate after it had been partially ravaged, but it doesn't do the shop justice, so I'll have to go back and get a photo of a new plate.Edit: I DID go back the next day, and it was even better the second time.
